Harvest is a long one for us with our little headers starting in November and still have quite a few weeks to go. The lambs have been very settled with only been taken out for fat and muscle scanning the other week.

Crutching is all done ready for the summer months! With it being 7 months after shearing there was a fair bit of wool to come off but not much dag at all when quite a few years ago this would be a different story.
We have been measuring the welfare trait of dag score for a while and have been taking the worst out of the flock over time (not correlated to worms that we also record).
Our aim is to breed very productive animals with great reproduction and growth without excess work for our clients.

We are extremely pleased with our offering of more than 250 modern Border Leicesters on Wednesday. This year not only are 95% of the rams on offer in the top 20% on the BLX but we have noticed that we are starting to find rams that have stretch as well as the deep barrelly rams that are renown for at Inverbrackie. The sale starts at 11.00am SA time with inspections from 9:30am with nutrien providing eggs and bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Light lunch will also be supplied.

We would like to invite anyone attending the sale to join us Tuesday night with guru Jason Trompf at the Victoria Hotel at 7pm for dinner.

We are extremely pleased with the line up of rams we are offering this year and it is very rare we offer rams of such calibre that already have progeny on the ground. Lot number 4 ranks as second highest 2024 drop ram on the BLX index in Australia!

He is a prime example of a Modern Border Leicester ram. Excelling in growth, muscle, fat and reproduction. Keep an eye out for this one!

The rams gained a pretty pink accessory today in the form of their lot tag with 249 in the Top 20% on MCP+ index. The full catalogue is now online on our website, sheep genetics and the link below. Last week we hosted 2 bus loads of Nuffield scholars as part of their post conference tour. It was quite an honour to have so many enquiring minds visit Inverbrackie.
Congratulations to the new scholars who will travel the world in 2026 and we wish them well on their quest to find information on their chosen topic.
