Men's Menus

Men's Menus Men's Menus is here to right the gender imbalance in everyday kitchens. We’re here to give a leg-up to the bloke who wants or needs to learn to cook.

We’re here to give a leg-up to the bloke who wants or needs to learn to cook for any reason - without the Master Chef hype. Newly single? Out to impress that special someone? The job’s dried up and eating out is off the menu? A bit of a health kick happening? The sudden realization there’s more to life than "eat crap and die"? Men's Menus teaches you how to whip up a tasty home-cooked meal with co

nfidence. We choose dishes that are easy, don't take hours to prepare, yet are satisfying in the making and eating. Our demonstrations happen in a friendly long table setting where meals are shared with sides, wine or beer, and maybe a few tall tales. We believe all men can benefit from productive time spent with other blokes. Men's Menus' principles are short and sweet (like piecrust) – though in the end it’s up to you!

• Firstly, fresh is best - avoid the frozen and canned food aisles where possible.

• Second, minimise food miles and care for the planet - shop for local produce, preferably from independent outlets.

• Third, all things in moderation - you can eat whatever you like (allergies aside) in reasonable amounts.

• Fourth, there is no right way – so make it your way.

The bastion has been breached. The inaugural, mixed company WoMen's Menus was hoot last night at The Mantle. Thanks to the ladies who braved the previously Men-only domain. I'm sure we'll do it again. We'll be taking a break to let you all get through December in your own ways, and returning in the New Year with a slightly altered format. Watch this space. Thanks again to Old Bridge Cellars North Fremantle and Princi Butchers Fremantle for top produce.

WoMen's Menus? Okay.... Breaking with tradition here.... One of the most common comments that Men's Menus has had is..."Great idea! Wish you'd do it for women too, though." So here's your chance! Next Wednesday 30/11 has been declared WoMen's Menus Day. We'll show you how to make the guys' favourite, Beef in Beer, accompanied with a very special Risotto that the girls just love. Beer, red or white wine, and our freshly made food shared at The Mantle's long table with some great conversation, all for the special price of $50. So ladies - drag your female friends along, or bring a bloke if you like (and if he's game).

Beef in Beer went down a treat last night, accompanied by Beer Bread, and washed down with.... beer, funnily enough. So easy to make, and the flavour reward-to-effort ratio is outstanding. Thanks again to The Mantle, Old Bridge Cellars North Fremantle and Princi Butchers Fremantle - great local support.

First workshop down! It was a fantastic success, and the food went down a treat. Nibbles followed by two styles of lasagne - beef, and veal/pork - with fresh salad, a Pironi and a cheeky Chianti at one of THE Mantle's long tables. Thanks to The Mantle, Old Bridge Cellars North Fremantle and Princi Butchers Fremantle for their support.

Okay, ladies.... The brothers aren't doing' it for themselves, so it looks like it's up to you....again. :-) There are a few spots left for our initial Lasagne demonstration at the Mantle on Tuesday, Nov 1. Yes, that's Melbourne Cup Day, but there may be a few blokes around who could use a nice lasagne that night. So head over to www.mensmenus.com.au and book him in. You never know... there may be a hidden Heston in your kitchen

19/10/2016

As an introductory offer, our first two demonstrations are available at the special rate of only $75.
First up is Lasagne on November 1, followed by Mexican Chicken on November 2.
Join us for a great night of learning some kitchen tricks, and share a meal and drink in good company.
