Hi, My name is Katherine and I am the creator, baker and decorator at Cakes by Koo and Cupcakes Too. I started out decorating cakes and cupcakes 13 years ago but I'd have to say my love for baking started as a kid making mud pies on the driveway and sprinkling flowers from the garden on top. I then moved up to helping my mum mix the batter for "patti cakes" (that's what they were called in the 80'
s) and I have loved baking and decorating ever since. I undertook a community college decorating course and was taught decorating the "old fashioned way" (no cutters for sugar flowers). I loved learning the art of cake decorating so much that I completed many more courses across Sydney at some of the most prestigious cake institutions. For those past 12 years my cake decorating was purely a hobby while I worked full time. Always being encouraged by family and friends and after having my first baby and not particulary wanting to return to the corporate world........I started Cakes by Koo and Cupcakes Too. Whether you require a simple round cake with a single rose on top, or a 5 tier wedding cake covered in roses, Cakes by Koo can tailor a cake to your needs. All cakes are prepared fresh using only quality ingredients; Butter, farm fresh free range eggs, Belgian Couverture Chololate and fresh seasonal fruit.
