K and D Family Farm

K and D Family Farm I like to define our farm as an Intensive Integrated Family Farm. It is similar to an intricate pattern of dominoes, all aspects are linked.

We love listening to Ben Falk talk about the importance of water moving through the environment. If you stay till the end you may even hear some interesting thoughts on climate change that may or may not gel with a person's current position. If it's your first time coming across Ben it's well worth taking the time to peruse his channel, there's loads of value even though he's in the US.

Thanks for checking in on us folks - we were fine and this storm was a great thing for the farm - and could be for almost any farm... Our hearts go out to th...

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT!

We're excited to let you know Ashbolt Farm is offering a community pressing. Perfect for southern Tasmanians, Ashbolt Farm is in Plenty, 40 mins west of Hobart in the beautiful Derwent Valley.

If you have your own olives and you'd like to experience the joys of your own Extra Virgin Olive Oil, email [email protected] for a form to register your interest. They're offering one pressing day only, on Sunday 25 June, so get in quick to confirm your spot.

There's no minimum weight. Rate is $2/kg with a minimum charge of $50.

Pre-registration is essential, so please register your interest with your estimated kgs. Do not pick your olives until your registration has been confirmed.

In the interest of pressing a quality oil for a number of people sharing the press on the day, we reserve the right to refuse olives that are not fresh.
For larger growers - did you know that Ashbolt Farm is also the Tasmanian agent for Campagnoli harvest rakes, pruning equipment etc.

As we bound into 2023 I think it's fitting to share these wishes from one of our thought leaders of regenerative agriculture.
"May all your carrots grow long and straight,
may your radishes be large and not pithy,
may the coyotes be struck blind by your pastured chickens,
may all of your cows be heavy with calf,
may your energizers be immune to lightning,
may your culinary experiments be delectably palatable,
may the rain fall gently on your fields,
the wind be always at your back,
your children rise up and call you blessed,
And may we all make the world a better place than we found it."
