πŸ₯˜ Paellas SA β€” Back at Kilburn Football Club!

Today we are delighted to be returning to the Kilburn Football Club β€” a proud institution of the South Australian community since 1923 β€” where football fans will be enjoying the very best of the AFL Gather Around weekend alongside a steaming, freshly cooked paella. At a crisp 19 degrees, it is honestly the perfect combination β€” great football, great food, great company. There is nothing quite like sharing a paella with friends and mates on a day like today. πŸ‰

Tomorrow, Saturday, we had three separate catering enquiries come through β€” a wonderful testament to how busy this season is shaping up to be. However, we are very much looking forward to something extra special: we will be catering for the 40th wedding anniversary celebration of our dear friends Sue and Gary. Four decades of love, laughter and partnership β€” what a milestone, and what an honour to be part of it.
And the best part? Once the paellas are served, we put down the ladles and join the celebration as guests ourselves β€” because Sue and Gary are simply that kind of people. Warm, generous and wonderful in every way, and we have no doubt the evening will be every bit as special as they deserve, surrounded by all their family and friends.
Here is to Sue and Gary, and to 40 more wonderful years! πŸ₯‚

πŸ₯˜ WE'RE BACK β€” AND WE'RE BRINGING THE FIESTA! πŸŽ‰
After a well-earned rest in March, we are firing up the pans again and kicking off April in style β€” and what better place to start than the stunning Barossa Valley!
πŸ“ Angaston | Melba's Chocolate Factory
πŸ—“οΈ Good Friday & Saturday
Join us for an unforgettable family experience where world-class paella meets artisan chocolate and the magic of Pizza Master β€” all in one incredible setting. Whether you're chasing something savoury, something sweet, or simply a brilliant day out with the people you love, this is the place to be.
And here's something to sweeten the deal even further β€” did you know that paella is not just delicious, it is genuinely good for you? 🌿
We have put together a little breakdown of the powerhouse ingredients we use in our paellas β€” from antioxidant-rich saffron and turmeric to vitamin-packed capsicum, chickpeas and extra virgin olive oil. It turns out that a great paella does not just satisfy your hunger β€” it actively nourishes your body. Who said eating well had to be boring? πŸ˜„
Come hungry. Come with family. Come ready to make memories.
We can't wait to see you there! πŸ™Œ

What a nutritious dish β€” your paella is packed with genuinely powerful ingredients. Here is a breakdown of the key health benefits:

Saffron is one of the most remarkable ingredients in the whole dish. It contains crocin and safranal, potent antioxidants linked to improved mood, memory support and anti-inflammatory effects. Gram for gram it is one of the most antioxidant-rich spices in the world.

Turmeric contains curcumin, widely regarded as one of nature's most powerful anti-inflammatory compounds. It supports joint health, brain function and immune defence.

Paprika is rich in vitamin A, vitamin E and capsanthin β€” a carotenoid antioxidant that supports eye health and helps protect cells from oxidative damage.

Extra virgin olive oil is the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet for good reason. It is rich in oleocanthal, a natural anti-inflammatory compound, as well as heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E.

Red capsicum is extraordinarily high in vitamin C β€” actually higher than most citrus fruits β€” and also provides vitamin A, vitamin B6 and lycopene, a powerful antioxidant linked to reduced cancer risk.
Pumpkin delivers a generous hit of beta-carotene (which converts to vitamin A), vitamin C, potassium and fibre, supporting eye health, immune function and heart health.

Mushrooms are one of the few non-animal sources of vitamin D, and also provide B vitamins, selenium and ergothioneine β€” an antioxidant that is quite rare in food and linked to cellular protection.

Chickpeas and butter beans are excellent sources of plant-based protein, soluble fibre, folate, iron and magnesium. The fibre supports gut health and helps stabilise blood sugar levels.

Green beans provide vitamin K, which is essential for bone health and blood clotting, along with folate and a good dose of fibre.
Onion contains quercetin, one of the most studied antioxidant flavonoids, along with sulphur compounds that support cardiovascular health and immune function.

Rosemary is rich in rosmarinic acid and carnosic acid β€” antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that also support cognitive function.

Chicken and pork belly provide complete protein with all essential amino acids, B vitamins (especially B12 and niacin), zinc and iron β€” all critical for energy metabolism, muscle maintenance and immune health.

Rice is a gentle, easily digestible source of energy and provides small amounts of B vitamins and manganese.

Taken together, your paella is essentially a Mediterranean superfood β€” combining anti-inflammatory spices, antioxidant-rich vegetables, plant proteins, healthy fats and complete animal proteins in one pot. The combination of saffron, turmeric, olive oil, capsicum and legumes in particular makes it genuinely one of the more nutritionally complete dishes you could prepare.

P.S. If you have made it all the way down here β€” well done! I should come clean and admit I had a little help from AI putting this together. But what it confirmed is something I already knew in my heart after a lifetime of eating and sharing more than 1,000 paellas β€” this dish is something truly special. Not just a meal, but a celebration on a plate. See you in Angaston ! πŸ₯˜β€οΈ

Hi destacados .
This Monday I was interviewed on the radio in ABC radio station.

They asked me about the costs to attend big events, like the Fringe, LIV Golf, etc... and yes, they charge a lot of money or even take 25% of your intakes, like in the Adelaide Oval and sometimes... both!

That's why you will not see Paellas South Australia in these kind of events, as we have to pay a lot to be there and we are taking all the risks, bad weather, low attendance, fees, ingredients, employees etc... while the organizers just take the money.
Of course there are costs to organize events, however that's how you finish paying $27 for 2 little chicken skewers.

We prefer to attend smaller events, up to 400 people, and provide a fresh paella, just cooked and ready at the requested time.
I really enjoyed catering last weekend for a 40th birthday party. Cooked for 50, feedback was very very positive and we left them several leftovers so they continued enjoying our paellas along the week.

This weekend, surprisingly, we don't have any event, so getting ready the signage and we finally finished the logo, that I'm attaching in this post.

If you would like us to attend your party, your work or to enjoy some paella, please contact us to help you out and offer possible solutions for your catering.

Bon appetite!!!

A pretty intense weekend !!!
Melba's Friday night in Angaston was really nice and I'm pretty sure that more people will come for the next ones!!! We had an excellent pizza there from Pizza Master and The slice.

Saturday, wedding in Macclesfield... seafood paella senyoret, meat paella and vegan paella ... a little bit of extra work but it totally paid off once we heard all the feedback.

And Sunday, Holland market in Adelaide ... nice venue, great music... I'm pretty sure La Bomba - Latin dance classes, events & entertainment will do it again! We also saw the program for the Latin Arts Festival that we will attend in October.

This week we will be in Lyndoch on Thursday and private events for Friday and Saturday.

Check availability for your coming events!!!

Hi !!!

Yesterday we catered for Lydia and Hayden's wedding in Angle Vale and it was a really great celebration.

Organized by Michaela from Lotus, we shared the event with Gelatissimo from Glenelg, Luxurious Grazing and Dan White and his wife playing and singing.

Hayden's heritage is Scottish, so as a surprise, the Barossa band came and played their bagpipes and drums to make the celebration even more special.

We received really nice compliments/ reviews from our paellas, as some of the guests went for a tour in Spain and they ate a paella in Valencia from a well known chef, and they enjoyed more ours here than the one they had in Valencia.
In CastellΓ³n (also part of the Valencian community) we add pork ribs and red capsicums to paellas and I guess that makes it less dry than the strict recipe from Valencia.

The photographer also mentioned us that it was the best paella he ever had at a wedding... I guess he really enjoyed it as he came for seconds!

Our best wishes for Lydia and Hayden, hopefully we will cater again for them in the future.

Bon appetite!!!!

Hi !
We don't have any public events booked soon and next 3 private ones will be weddings, one in Wallaroo!

We took mini holidays after Normanville New Years Eve Pageant, an event we would love to come back next year, as we had a great time as caterers and as a family.

The 5th of January we baked the 3 kings cake one more year, with 2 bien surprises, a bean and a mini king figure, so who gets the first one pays for the cake and who gets the minifigure is crown king/ queen.

We also did some buffet style dinners, fish dinners as, of course, we are not all the time eating paella!!! In fact, we really enjoy swapping food with other caterers and we tried Mexican, potato on a stick, pizzas, Korean food, dumplings, doughnuts, coffee, wine, beer, etc...

We hope to start filling our agenda soon, so please, keep us in mind for your next event/celebration.

Bon appetite!!!

Don't miss out the Normanville NYE Parade and its fireworks!!!
We will be preparing our paellas and also enjoying the fireworks, the caterer's food and the great family vibe that all the organization helps to create.

At 12, we will start the year eating our 12 grapes, one per month in the first 12 seconds of the year, to start the year in a sweet healthy way as all Spaniards traditionally do.

Bon appetite!!!
