If you love Pinot Noir, you will definitely enjoy Zweigelt!

A grape variety developed in Austria in 1922 by Fritz Zweigelt in Klosterneuburg- Austria’s leading Oenological University.

Zweigelt’s parentage are Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent, combining the blue-fruit quality and pepper of Blaufränkisch and the elegance and aromatic intensity of the Sankt Laurent.

Zweigelt is a light-bodied variety with soft tannins and elevated acidity, making the perfect w**e for light fare, such as seafood, roast chicken or duck.

Despite its relatively short history, Zweigelt has become Austria’s most planted grape variety, covering 13.4% (5,924 ha) out of 30% of red grapes planted in Austria. Conversely, one of its parents, Blaufrankisch, covers 5.8% of total plantings, or 2,564 ha under vine. Sankt Laurent comes a distant 3rd in terms of plantings.

We had an amazing time tasting through Spanish w**es this weekend!

Huge thank you to everyone for coming!

Tio Pepe was as delicious as always! Salty, mineral and intense. By far the best pairing for olives and jamon.

Codorníu Codorníu USA was textured, fruity and expressive with elegant effervescence.

Zarate Albariño was a great representation of Rías Baixas W**es ! Salty, mineral with beautiful floral notes.

bodega_martinsancho makes one of our favorites Verdejo, textured, mineral and complex.

Raúl Pérez Ultreia blend of Bastardo and Garnacha Tintonera is great example of the potential of Bierzo. Crunchy, fresh and mineral.

Bodegas Frontonio offers immense quality and value with their Microcosmico Grenache. Fruity, generous and utterly delicious.

Bodegas Hermanos Peciña is one my favorite Rioja producers. Their Cosecha 2024 was an amazing example of what Tempranillo tastes like without age and oak obcsuring its flavor profile. Crunchy, fruit-forward and inviting.

Viña Bosconia was as great as always! Beautifully developed, leathery and complex. What an amazing example of what Rioja has to offer. Drink or age further, either way you will be rewarded.

Marcus Spindler, 11th generation w**emaker will be in attendance to pour some of their exceptional Rieslings.

Spindler can trace its roots back to 1620 when Sontag Spindler relocated from Burgundy to the picturesque village of Forst in Pfalz. Forst is considered one of the most well-regarded w**e-producing villages in Pfalz with some of the best vineyards situated in the village. Spindler has holdings in some of these exceptional vineyards, such as, Jesuitengarten, Pechstein and Ungheuer among others.

That is a unique opportunity to meet and taste with a world-class w**emaker from Germany!
