We had a win in court today! Was good to see the magistrate acknowledging the pain and suffering caused by the ban that’s been put in place, if only Jackie Jarvis could do the same 😡

A Geraldton fisherman has avoided a fine for trespassing after chaining himself to the roof of the local fisheries in an action of protest.

Another let down from Jackie Jarvis 🤬

Today Brian went to Perth and had a one on one meeting with WA Fisheries Minister Jackie Jarvis.

After finally meeting her Brian has summed her up as arrogant, disrespectful, cocky and in his opinion lacking the knowledge in fisheries, fishing and seafood needed to be the WA Fisheries Minister.

While we appreciate the meeting and the time we were given we feel it was just a box ticking exercise to say fishermen have been met with. Nothing will come of it.

50 years of fishing history and experience meant nothing in the meeting and it has become very clear to us that this Minister doesn’t want commercial fishing of any type in Western Australia.

Efforts to explain that WA people want local seafood and currently there is not enough supply for demand also didn’t seem to really worry the Minister.

A master of “gaslighting” which included telling Brian he had the opportunities many times to save his business at meetings but the real truth is he wasn’t actually invited to any of them. There was no consultation with us before these bans and that’s the truth!

It’s a disappointing day with the Minister standing by her decision to close the fishing and that’s the bottom line.

A warning to all other commercial fisheries in every part of Western Australia is that if this isn’t overturned you are all next!

This won’t stop here is the vibe we are getting.

A very sad situation for the people and commercial fishermen of Western Australia.
