— 75 Years of Memories
As we wrap up our 75th anniversary celebrations, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude and nostalgia. It’s been pure joy to sift through decades of memories and relive these incredible moments with you.
From unforgettable milestones and larger-than-life personalities to the quiet, everyday moments that make our community special, every story has reminded us just how much the Co-op means to us all. Seeing you share your own memories, photos, and heartfelt comments has truly brought our history to life and made this celebration unforgettable.

We hope this content has sparked a few joyful “remember when” conversations or brought a smile. At the heart of it all is what’s always mattered most — our Co-op family. While this chapter of our anniversary series ends, something tells us we won’t be able to resist opening a few more boxes in the archives now and then — so keep your eyes peeled for more treasured moments from GFC’s rich history!

Thank you for being part of the journey. Here’s to another .

to July 2020 🦞
It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 6 years since we opened the doors to Brolos Fresh Seafood at Geraldton Harbour.
Launching the store was no small task — especially at the height of COVID — but we backed our belief that Midwest locals value (and deserve!) access to fresh, sustainable, locally caught seafood.
Fast forward to today, and while a lot has changed and grown, one thing hasn’t: our commitment to bringing the freshest local fish, lobster and seafood to Geraldton and the Midwest.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way — we’re proud to keep sharing the best of our fisheries with our community 💙

We had a fantastic time at our recent GFC Ladies Lunches in Geraldton and Perth!

Thanks to everyone who joined us to share stories, enjoy good food, and celebrate our amazing community of women.

These lunches remain a significant highlight in our calendar—providing a platform to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our female members and staff. From seasoned industry leaders to emerging voices, the conversations showcased the strength, diversity, and camaraderie thriving within our community.

Beyond a social gathering, these events offered a meaningful opportunity to strengthen relationships, forge new connections, and acknowledge the pivotal role women play in shaping both our organisation and the wider industry.

to the Ocean Street Office🏢
Before Marine Terrace, there was the Ocean Street office… and for many of us, it was more than just an office — it was a home away from home.

Over the years, the building grew and evolved alongside the business, with renovations, extensions and a few creative workarounds along the way. It saw everything from significant visits (including British royalty 👑) to the everyday moments that made it special — birthday morning teas, Members and their families visiting, and the constant hustle and bustle of staff working away on technology that doesn’t even exist anymore… (what’s a fax machine? 😄).

While the office team are loving the new digs, it’s hard not to feel a little nostalgic for the place that held so many memories and played such a big part in GFC’s story.
We know we’re not the only ones — what’s your favourite Ocean Street memory? Drop it in the comments 👇

Today we celebrate the ocean — the foundation of our industry and our coastal communities.
We’re proud to do our part, having been a sustainable fishery since 2000, our commitment is more than just an accreditation, it's a generational commitment to the wellbeing of the Western rock lobster fishery and our ocean.

Happy World Food Safety Day 2026
At GFC, safe food starts with our people. This year we’re celebrating strong progress:
✅SQF certification renewed
✅Food safety data is more accessible for all teams to review performance.
✅100% of our team has completed HACCP training, food safety inductions, and competency assessments.
A big thanks to our teams—especially R&D and QA—for making food safety part of everything we do. Because from ocean to plate, safe food depends on all of us.

— Back by popular demand! ⚓
After so much love for a previous post, we’re revisiting these incredible pieces of history lovingly preserved by volunteers at the North Island Museum.
These images capture more than just moments in time — they tell the story of the Abrolhos Islands community, the fishing camps, and the people who helped shape our industry into what it is today.
A huge credit again to long-time GFC members, the Weldon family, whose dedication to preserving these memories is nothing short of remarkable. 🥰

We’ve been digging through the archives and uncovered a true gem… a sepia-toned collection lovingly labelled “sticky taped” images.
Carefully rescued & scanned by our volunteer archive committee, these photos offer a rare glimpse into the early days of Brolos lobster production — a time when things looked a little different.
We’re loving the retro vibes and the stories hidden in every frame 📸
👉What do you reckon — how old are these images? Drop your best guess in the comments!
