Not much farming going on atm 🧑‍🌾💤
🔥Boyfy & I installed the fireplace this weekend which is soooooooo niiiiiice.
🌱Veggies have slowed down & so have I. Lots of tea drinking and binge watching. Still unsure if I'll pause boxes late winter as veg variety starts to get smaller, we'll see!
💪Started winter strength training so I can go full-bore in spring/summer & trying to make space for more yoga.
☃️First winter season growing/selling. Having so much spare time makes me feel like I'm missing something! 🤔 Will try and do a few big winter projects (finish wash/pack & build 2nd polytunnel), but loving slowing down!

First bad weather harvest! 🌧️
Very fun, but very privileged to have an indoor wash-pack! Haven't found anything I hate about this job (yet).
👢 vegan boots kept my tootsie's dry and Mums raincoat had me sorted.
🌄 Raised beds went okay with 50+mm rain! A few spots washed away from super compacted paths or tarps uphill.
🪠Definitely need to put some ag-drains across the paddock to help with big downpours. Curious to see how long the veggies keep going (maybe a short winter with this predicted El Niño 😳).
⛲ Need to get our tank overflows sorted and start directing that water into the dam. Tanks = 106,000L, hoping that'll cover all-year farming (tanks stayed mostly full this summer/autumn!) 🤞

Nearly expired AirBnB voucher finally getting us off farm 😳 (not overworked, we just love our farm so much that we haven't wanted to leave lately 🌽).

A Lean consultation with was THE BEST winter-spring reset 😍 Focusing on infrastructure over winter made me forget about using Lean practices as I go, so asking Grace & Dylan how to focus on/implement Lean was the reboot I needed (still learning about Lean, but hearing the masters relate it back to market farming was so helpful!).
Pics in order:
📖 Having another read of Lean Thinking.
🍪 Grace & Dylan's genius idea of the daily Bikkie Meeting (time dedicated to looking at 5S).
🪱 Finding flow in the nursery: compost storage> compost sieve> potting table> germination shelves.
🌱 Trying to standardise work: having the same trays, no mucking around with different sowing/cleaning techniques.
✂️ Tools in the right place: scissors to open seedlings packets, tape to label trays once seeds sown.
🧹 Dust pan on the potting table to quickly clean afterwards.
🪥 Wire brush on tool track to clean tools after use.
🐛 Tunnel all ready for spring & summer!
