In early 2015, Ole’ and Michelle McCully purchased the 70 acre fertile property with the view to enjoy the fruits of chemical free beef and produce. Within 12 months Cherrybelle Farm was born. Originally introducing Kimberley Free Range cattle to the farm, the McCully’s have diversified by acquiring Murray Grey bulls from Rural Ambassador Harris Thompson of the Venturon Livestock enterprise. The M
urray Grey breed is well regarded to have a very mild, gentle disposition making them easy to handle, perfect for our holistic management approach where are moving the cattle constantly with high intensity rotational animal grazing. By March 2017 an array of cherry trees – Early Burlatt, Lewis, Stella and Van – were planted in the rich soils adjacent to where the Preston River traverses through the property. The cherry orchard has been grown with soil health top of mind with only organic fertilisers utilised and cover grasses grown between the trees. Cherrybelle Farm is continually evolving and regenerative farming is an area where we are learning to take an entire ecosystem approach, where soil health is critical to success. The philosophy is simple, when soils are healthy, the plants growing in them are healthy and the animals living off those plants are healthy. We look forward to sharing Cherrybelle Farm's journey with you!
