It’s always nice to see our cows ‘Chewin’ their cud’
It means they’re in rest and digest mode, where the heart rate slows, stress hormones lower, and energy is directed toward digestion, nutrient absorption, repair, and recovery.

It’s a good sign and a good reminder:

When we’re constantly rushing we don’t absorb nourishment and rest isn’t the opposite of productivity but part of productivity.

Processing takes time, whether it’s food, experiences, or emotions and stillness has its purpose.

Cows don’t need permission to slow down, they just know

Wow what a week that was at the Australian Highland Cattle National Show 2026!

As first-time exhibitors we really didn’t know what to expect. The days ( weeks, months) leading up to it were at times challenging; getting everything in order, prepared and organised.

But what followed, was unforgettable (a lot of work) but filled with connection, camaraderie, encouragement, and support

Plus all the fun fare you’d expect at a show from numerous market stalls, Educational workshops, social gatherings and presentations, an awesome array of MCs, educators, domestic judges as well International Judge; Ewan MacKay

The competition was strong with a record number of entries and an exceptionally high standard.
We were absolutely delighted with our heifers, Little Peg and Jaimie Bow, getting 🥇1st and 🥉3rd in their class amongst such quality cattle.

It can’t be underestimated how much goes into making a show like this such a success- the unseen work and attention to detail was incredible from start to finish ( the awards dinner was nothing short of magical !)

A heartfelt thank you to the Show Committee /the organisers, you are all amazing as were the volunteers, sponsors, judges, and fellow exhibitors who made it all possible.

A big thank you to Craggy Island Highlands We couldn’t have done it without you ! Alison, Scott and Hessie your unwavering guidance and support we’ll never forget 💕

What we’ll remember most, is the camaraderie in the sheds as well as the ring!
The conversations, the encouragement, and the friendships formed throughout the week making the whole experience one to remember 🌟

We arrived as first-time exhibitors and left feeling inspired, grateful, and even more passionate for this incredible breed 🤎

It was an absolutely stellar effort by everyone involved. As first-time exhibitors, we came into the week knowing we had quality cattle, but that is a direct reflection of the years of dedication, careful breeding, and passion that Craggy Island Highlands has invested in this truly special breed.

Their support, encouragement, and love of life shone through in everything that made this week so memorable. We were incredibly proud to present our cattle, and the results reflected not only the animals themselves but the people behind them.

Getting this old farm to where it is today has truly been a labour of love.

Over the years, Olde Glenreagh Station has given us so much. It has helped us grow, learn, dream big, and create a life we never thought possible. We will always be grateful for this very special place and the doors it has opened.

Building on this foundation has been an honour. But, as with all things, there comes a time to embrace change, letting go of what was, while carrying forward everything we have loved and learned…

So, we are excited to announce that we are renaming the property to reflect our registered Australian Highland Cattle fold name:

🤎 GLENESSI 🤎

While the name is changing, our values remain the same—our love of the land, our Highland cattle and this beautiful part of the world.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged us, supported us, visited, stayed with us, shared our story, or simply cheered us on. Your support means more than words can say

Here’s to the next chapter:
