We haven’t posted much about Pendles, our Highland calf, as he’s been a bit of a worry for us since he was born. We think he may have arrived a little early, and Maggie just wasn’t producing enough milk to keep up with his needs.
To help him along, we’ve been bottle-feeding him while still letting him stay with his mum. The good news is that he’s now starting to put on weight and is looking much brighter and stronger.
He’s such a beautiful little boy, and we’re so pleased with how he’s progressing. He’s even happier now that he has a new mate, Scott, who arrived a little bigger than Pendles. The two boys are already enjoying each other’s company, and it’s lovely to see.
We’re looking forward to watching them grow together. 🤎🐮

Little Stella is a keeper. So much a carbon copy of her mum.

A New Chapter for Hendrix & Aurora 🤎

Hendrix and Aurora have now joined Nigel in a smaller paddock as part of their socialisation and handling journey.

The move allows us to spend more time with them and help them become comfortable around people. In a larger paddock, cattle can easily keep their distance, but a smaller space gives us more opportunities for calm, positive interactions without causing stress.

Our goal isn't to force contact—it's to build trust. By spending time around them, talking to them, feeding them, and gently introducing handling, we're helping them learn that people are safe and that routine management doesn't need to be frightening.

Having Nigel with them is a big help too. Cattle are social animals, and a calm, confident companion can often help younger or less experienced animals settle and gain confidence more quickly.

Every animal learns at its own pace, so we'll be taking things slowly and letting Hendrix and Aurora progress in their own time. We're excited to watch their personalities shine as they become more comfortable with us and their new routine.

Stay tuned for updates on their progress

Always bittersweet when one of our highlands leave. But so glad when we get to deliver and know they are going to a great home where they will be loved and well cared for. Paisley has definitely gone to greener pasture.

This mornings surprise at 6am. Amelia had twin doelings. Still to be named.
