It is with great sadness the 919 Wines team acknowledges the death of one of our team, Ian "George" Smith. George has worked for us on a casual basis for the last few years as top gun picker and vine pruner and helping out with packaging. He was a rough diamond with a generous heart, who worked hard, was a great mentor for others, and always had a story and a laugh. He died as a result of an accident whilst riding his beloved Royal Ensign motorbike.
We will miss him.

Believe in the impossible!
You might recall the devastating frost that wiped out our crop two years ago, affecting our neighbors as well. But Shiraz, being the a variety that has a later budburst was spared! We joined forces with our neighbors to craft a w**e from the small harvest each of us managed to salvage. The result is the extraordinary 2025 Frostbite, a true masterpiece that's not available to the public. And the best part for us? It's drinking magnificently, with rich, layered flavors that burst with luscious blackberry jam notes. This is the ultimate testament to the Riverland's potential to produce exceptional w**es!! 🙌

Meet Riverland Vine improvement Committee. They have been serving the Australian w**e industry for over 40 years, providing high health vine material for vineyards and w**eries. We are proud to have been working should to shoulder with them for over 15 years. Our Sangiovese was planted from their vine material after collaborating with them on a clonal performance trial.
