Ashmar Farmstay Every day there are animals to feed, eggs to collect and cook for breakfast, milking to be done and if you are lucky you may see a calf being born.

There's lots to see and do at the farm, especially for children, who can play in the wide open spaces and learn all about farm animals and where our food comes from. We often have small animals we are hand rearing, such as lambs and goats. Everyone can have a try at bottle feeding. We muster all our cattle on horseback so you may be lucky enough to see a muster. For larger groups, we can show you

how to prepare cattle for the show ring, including washing, blowdrying and teaching to lead. Designed and built with comfort and convenience in mind, Ashmar includes 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 12 people, a 3 way bathroom, well equipped timber kitchen and laundry(second toilet) with washing and ironing facilities. When adults stay there is extra accommodation with a double bedroom, extra bathroom and sitting room, ideal Grandparents retreat,
During quiet moments enjoy the colour TV and DVD or simply sit and relax while taking in the fabulous scenery. During the cooler months make yourself warm in front of the crackling wood fire. Included in the tariff are linen, towels and all cooking utensils for your convenience. While Ashmar is a self contained cottage and a b b q area just out side your door ....
Gloucester has great pubs and clubs for family meals. . Just a 15 minute drive from the farm and another great way to support and country town . The cottage is set in a lovely country garden, with a children's play area and has a BBQ in a covered courtyard. The garden is a wonderful place for you to enjoy the peace and quiet and to watch the many native birds and the nearby grazing cattle. Peace and quiet is assured as Ashmar has only the one cottage- you do not have to share this wonderful experience with anyone! Only 15 minutes away from Ashmar you will find the charming country town of Gloucester nestling under the back drop of the Bucketts ranges. Gloucester is the home of beautiful rivers, great childrens parks, restaurants, clubs, tennis, bowls Horse riding, canoeing, bushwalking and the great World Heritage Listed Barrington Tops. 40 years ago today we packed up our life in Dungog with a horse truck belonging to Robert and Kathy Neilson and headed to the Waukivory valley
Arriving at a property that no one had lived on for 8 years
The love of the land and our great neighbours we soon settled and Ashmar was born
Many things have changed
We now had 4 grand children which we are so proud of
But sadly we are now running the farm without farmer Ian
The farmstay guests always called him farmer Ian
Thanks to family and neighbours we are all keeping Ian’s dream of his farm alive
The Waukivory Valley is a great place to call HOME
