Hello Larrikins,

Thank you for your support.

Since we offered cases of twelve Larrikin Rum bottles delivered for $48 per bottle and half cases delivered for $50 per bottle, we have sold 150 bottles. That’s 12 and a half dozen in boxes of twelve and six.

I look forward to you supporting YOUR brand. A bottle of Larrikin rum makes a good present, celebratory drink, or Australia Day tipple, so put your order in through the website. I look forward to taking your order.

Thanks again

Brett McMahon

Good morning everyone.

I came up with the Larrikin Rum idea at the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of my dad putting the polar bear on the Bundy bottle. I realised then that Diageo were at best half-hearted in their support of you, the thousands of bottle collectors, the best product advocates I have ever met, and I wanted to do better for you.

Bundy Bottle collectors have shrunk alarmingly in number over the years, and I want to help bring value to your Bundy collections while promoting Larrikin Rum. I would like to help you reconnect with your friends and fellow collectors with a treasure hunt competition.

We have hundreds of numbered Banana Bender bottles to sell and offer as prizes.

I signed dozens of bottles, caps and memorabilia at the 50th Anniversary event and want to reward the collectors who thought my signature was important to them. I want to connect with them and am happy to give them two bottles of Larrikin Rum if they can post an image of their merchandise with my signature or initials on it, on the Larrikin Rum page!

To make the competition rewarding for you, I am happy to offer you a pack of two numbered Larrikin Rum bottles delivered to your home for $100 if you produce the lead to the collector. That’s a great deal for you if you want to connect with old acquaintances, like the taste of the Larrikin and are happy to buy two bottles to enjoy.

Three people really stood out that day and I want to do something special for them. I will send two bottles and a full merchandise pack of two shirts, two hats, a picnic blanket and a cooler bag to;
• The good sort who baled me up in the queue, and told me what needed to be fixed,
• The sculptor whose bundy bear I signed, and
• The other good sort who asked me to sign over her heart, so she could have it inked in later.

As well as sending two bottles of Larrikin Rum for $100 to the Larrikin who found them.

I hope this is a rallying call for you to reconnect with your friends and fellow bottle collectors, to find the merchandise I signed and to give some value to it, and add value to your fantastic bottle collections.

I want your advice on how to build Larrikin Rum, and sponsoring a competition to help you reconnect is the first step.

In the next few weeks, I will send out a straw poll to get your reaction to the labels, the drop bear, and most of all the taste of Larrikin Rum. I want to do my best for you and hope you will help me help you.

For now, find an old mate with something that has my signature on it and earn two cost price bottles delivered to your door.

Good treasure hunting!

Best wishes
Brett McMahon

Don't just take our word for how good it tastes, see the reaction from people who tried Larrikin Rum for the 1st time at the official launch at the Banana Bender Pub.

Larrikin Rum held their opening event at the Banana Bender last Saturday.

Hundreds of Banana Bender patrons had their first nip of Larrikin Rum, met the distiller and rum bottle collectors. They were unanimous in their praise for the smooth texture and taste of Larrikin.

Larrikin Rum spokesman, Brett McMahon said
“Most of the people we offered a taste to were enjoying their lunch at the Banana Bender. Everyone who tasted Larrikin Rum, and remarkably one in three couples that tasted it, purchased a bottle. That is a phenomenal response, particularly from Banana Bender patrons who came for lunch not a rum tasting!”

We finished the afternoon with Brisbane Lions legend Mitch Robinson auctioning empty bottles for charity.
I am very pleased that Larrikin Rum raised $240 for the Sunshine coast Rural Fire Service.

The Banana Bender is the only place on the Sunshine Coast where rum drinkers can have their first taste of the Larrikin!

The distillery that provides Larrikin Rum is Bluestill which began 29 years ago and is a father and son team, Steve and Rod.

Steve was a stone fruit grower in Kingsvale NSW which is in the South West Slopes region of NSW. After devastating hail storms and numerous other hurdles affecting the growing industry, Steve, and some European mates started fermenting different fruits progressing into mainline spirits over the coming years. The orchard ran for 30 years.

We distilled spirits on the orchard for 10 of these of these years before moving to a more central location where we have been distilling for a further 15 years. During that time we also ran a restaurant/cafe/gallery, however we now focus on just the production of spirits. The restaurant/cafe is now closed.
We like to focus on traditional styles of spirits.

We have always been true to the land we work on and work by the rule that if we are going to produce something, it also has to be true to its name. In keeping with that, we keep our rum as a very traditional style of rum.

We focus on the smooth, sweet molasses’s flavour. We tell our customers, if it doesn’t taste like molasses, it’s not real rum.

Cane sugar and molasses is put into the fermenters, where it sits in controlled temperature rooms for around 7-9 days.

We keep our rooms at 22-23 degrees all year round.

At the end of fermentation, we then transfer it into one of our pot stills. We then boil it off. Our alcohol comes out at about 40 precent, so there is very little water added.

We then transfer into our American Oak barrels where it sits for a minimum of 2 years, and when the distiller thinks it’s ready.
