We’ve gone back and forth about sharing this because we never want to sound like we’re complaining.

We’re genuinely so grateful. When the shop is busy, when you come back every week, when you bring your friends in, when you tell someone about us… we notice it all.

But the reality of running a small business right now is hard.

You can be busy all day, work ridiculous hours, make everything from scratch, refuse to compromise on quality… and still feel like you’re constantly chasing rising costs.

Sometimes people see a 50 cent increase and that’s all they see.

They don’t see the ingredient that doubled in price.
The wages.
The rent.
The electricity.
The packaging.
The card fees.
Or the hours behind the scenes trying to make it all work.

And we know we’re not alone. We have so many friends with small businesses who are feeling exactly the same.

So this post isn’t a “poor us” post at all.

It’s just a little reminder that behind your favourite café, bakery, shop, restaurant or local business are real people doing their absolute best to keep going.

If you love a small business, keep showing them.

Buy from them when you can.
Pay cash sometimes if they accept it.
Leave the review.
Like the post.
Share it.
Tell your friends.

Those things might feel tiny to you, but they really don’t feel tiny to us.
