Meet Bea - one of our 2026 Mayor’s Student Ambassadors 💫

Bea has only just finished her degree at SCU, and what a journey it was. She studied full time with the ocean on her doorstep, juggled two jobs on campus and got involved with marketing campaigns for the uni. Outside of class, it was surf sessions, beach handstands and adventures with friends, and she even started 'Get Me Outside' so everyone could join in and get outdoors. 🎓🌊

Whether Halloween is a big deal where you’re from or you’ve never celebrated it before, this is your sign to come along. Our Halloween Social Lunch is a friendly, relaxed way to join in the fun and meet people from all over 🌏

Expect a themed buffet (think mini hot dogs, BBQ chicken sliders, corn on the cob, churros and mini doughnuts 🌽), live magic that’ll have you doing a double take 🪄 and a raffle with prizes up for grabs.

Happy World Food Day 🍕

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Student Hub for World Food Day! We put our sustainability knowledge to the test with a trivia challenge inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, learnt some surprising facts about global food systems and refuelled with a free pizza lunch along the way 🌍

Big congrats to our trivia winners, and a huge thank you to every student who came, competed and made some new friends over a slice 💛

What a morning! ☕💛
 
Our Mayor’s Student Ambassadors were up bright and early for a volunteering session at The Lunch Project Cafe in Upper Coomera, and it was well worth the alarm. Together with the lunch project and We are Kind Strategy, the MSAs heard the stories and motivations behind two organisations making a real difference on the Gold Coast, then rolled up their sleeves to help pack lunches for local school children. 🥪
 
A big thank you to the teams for having us, and to our ambassadors for bringing the energy (and the great attitude). 🥐 We left with full bellies, full hearts and some practical ideas for giving back in our own communities.

Born on the Gold Coast and now in his final year of school, Jordan is already getting a taste of his dream career in politics. Between volunteering with Rosies, playing euphonium and piano, hitting the hiking trails and travelling the world, this future MP is making every moment count while studying on the Gold Coast. 🌏🎺
