Fresh from the orchard at Pinchin Rise today!

We just harvested a beautiful basket of limes, oranges, some more chillies, plus a big bowl of our own pecans. Pair them with our fresh eggs and the winter veg that’s coming along nicely in the garden and it’s starting to feel like a proper little harvest season on the hill.

Love seeing the place produce so well! Nothing beats homegrown!

Hard to believe it’s already been a year since our starter herd arrived on the hill!!

Lots has happened since then. We’ve welcomed 7 calves, bought a bull, lost dear old Polly and learned a heap about raising Square Meaters Cattle. Thanks to the Square Meaters Cattle Association of Australia, Square Meaters Cattle Association - Queensland Breeders Group and all the breeders Australia wide for their support. We can’t thank Lach Howland from Golden Pastoral Co enough for his advice, support and general passion for the breed. It’s invaluable knowing he’s at the end of the phone to answer any questions.

The next year will be exciting too! Stanley has done is job and we’re expecting 10 new calves plus our first batch of steers will be ready for processing in September/October!

We’re so lucky to live where we do. The cow’s are in good nick, happy and all in calf. Good boy Stanley!This years steers are fattening nicely. It’s going to be a big year on the hill!!!

No wonder the big fella is smiling. Preg testing today and he’s hit 8 from 8. Four tried and true 5 year olds and 4 beautiful heifers are all between 8 and 12 weeks. Excited to see this batch of calves. I’m hoping those quality Oakvale/Rosalinos bloodlines out of our Vesco girls produce something special. Thanks Aldridge State High School and Scott Anthony Hillier for the trust.

This hobby farming caper only works if you’re both 100% committed. It’s an absolute scorcher on the hill today so we rolled our sleeves up early and ripped in. Blessed to have by my side on this adventure. She’ll have a crack at anything and works as hard as anyone I know. I think we’ve earned a couple of stubbies!!

Our youngest calf is a month old and thriving! We’ve decided to name our Pinchin Rise calves after our favorite country singers so meet Pinchin Rise Brad Cox, inspired by the legendary Brad Cox, who just topped my Spotify Wrapped. A clear sign young Brad’s destined for big things! Our next drop is due May/June next year. Wonder what’ll be on high rotation then?
