I definitely learned this one the hard way in 23 when things got extremely dry in the South Burnett, got way too focused on paddocks and let body condition slip and it showed up pretty quickly in conception rates. So these are just a few thoughts on how I think about aligning peak body condition and our calving period.

Just a quick little video on how I see the difference between carrying capacity, stocking rate and stock density. However now I think about it Ive found that generally it’s better to start with calculating your stocking rate which is then what gives you your carrying capacity figure.

I’m picking out some steers for home kills which is always is a good reminder of the whole point of it all, seeing these calves born on this country, grown out, putting fat on over summer and then coming full circle as amazing protein on our plates🥩
