FIVE RED STARS. AGAIN.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Seppelt has once again been awarded 5 Red Stars in the 2027 Halliday Wine Companion.

It’s a little badge that represents something much bigger: consistency, craftsmanship and exceptional wine, year after year.

From generations of winemaking history to the wines being poured at our Great Western Cellar Door today, it’s pretty special to see the Seppelt name continuing to sit among Australia’s outstanding wineries.

A huge congratulations to Clare Dry, the winemaking and viticulture teams and every person who plays a part in bringing these wines to life.

Five red stars. Another year. We’ll raise a glass to that.

Come and taste what all those stars are about at Seppelt Great Western.

Turns out we’re seeing red… and we’re VERY happy about it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Seppelt has done it again, receiving 5 RED STARS in the 2027 Halliday Wine Companion.

And these aren’t stars handed out for having one particularly good year. Five Red Stars recognise wineries that keep producing exceptional wines, vintage after vintage.

Which feels pretty fitting for a place that’s been making a bit of wine history at Great Western for a very long time.

Historic cellars underground. Some seriously good wine above ground. And another five red stars to add to the story.

We’re pretty chuffed.

Pop into Cellar Door, taste your way through the Seppelt range and come see why Great Western continues to punch well above its weight.

Before Seppelt was Seppelt, it was Irvine’s Wines.

This incredible image from 1905 shows barrels lined up at the Great Western winery, with the roof of historic Vine Lodge just peeking through on the left.

Hans Irvine purchased the winery in 1888 and was the man who truly put Great Western wine on the map. He expanded the winery, embraced sparkling wine production and even opened a London warehouse to take Great Western wines directly to the British market. Seppelt later purchased Irvine’s Wines in 1918, beginning the next chapter of this remarkable place.

Come and discover the stories, the historic buildings and the extraordinary underground Drives for yourself, followed by a tasting of the wines Seppelt Great Western is still known for today.

Hans Irvine, standing inside one of the underground Drives at Great Western.

He was the man who truly put this winery on the map, growing Irvine’s Wines into an internationally recognised name and helping establish Great Western’s reputation for exceptional sparkling wine.

More than a century later, you can walk through these very same underground cellars, hear the stories of the people who shaped them and finish with a tasting of the sparkling wines Seppelt Great Western is still known for today.

A moment in Great Western history.

In 1950, Victoria’s State Governor, Sir Dallas Brooks, cut the ribbon to officially open the underground Drive named in his honour.

These hand-dug cellars have welcomed generations of visitors, winemakers and dignitaries, and remain one of the most remarkable parts of the Great Western story.

Come and walk through the Drives for yourself, discover the history beneath the winery and finish with a tasting of the sparkling wines Seppelt is so well known for.
