This World Environment Day, we’re reminded that the little choices made in backyards, coops, hutches and aviaries all ripple outward into the world around us 🌱

At Aus Organic Feeds, we believe every animal is a VIP — a Very Important Pet — feathered or furred, tiny or tall. And caring for them well should also mean caring for the land beneath our boots and the future we’re growing toward together.

That’s why we choose certified organic and organic blend* ingredients wherever possible. Because organic farming supports healthier soils, encourages biodiversity, reduces reliance on synthetic chemicals, and nurtures a gentler rhythm between people, animals and planet.

From the hens scratching through the garden beds…
to the rabbits waiting by the hutch at dusk…
the guinea pigs wheeking for their evening feed…
and the birds filling the home on the range with song…

Every feeding ritual is a chance to nurture your world with greater care and intention.

Organic feed, batch-crafted with care. For healthier VIPs, healthier soils, and a healthier future 🌏

Some homes have one VIP. This home on the range has four 💚

Meet this month’s VIPs of the Month — Maple, Flossy, Muffin & Minnie: a tiny herd of guinea pigs running life entirely on their own terms.

First up, we have Maple — just 3 months old and already proving that no finger is safe around those teeny tiny piggie teeth. Small? Yes. Innocent? Absolutely not.

Then there’s Florene AKA Flossy, the 4.5-year-old Queen of the herd. Flossy likes order, respect and occasionally reminding the others who’s the boss by giving out unsolicited haircuts with her teeth — a classic guinea pig move called barbering 💇‍♀️

Muffin, at 8 months old, is the fluffiest and sweetest VIP of the family. Equal parts cloud and cuddle, this little one has clearly mastered the art of winning hearts.

And finally, Minnie — tiny in size but apparently powered by pure speed. At just 3 months old, she earned her name for being so teeny tiny… though catching her is another story entirely.

Together, they’re chaos, fluff, squeaks and personality wrapped into one very important, very loved, little herd 🌿

VIP’s come in all shapes and squeaky sizes.

Got a feathered or furred VIP with a personality too big for their body? Drop them below — they might just be next month’s VIP of the Month ✨

One of our team recently got backyard chickens… and she has some thoughts 👀🐓

• The p**p.... there is SO much p**p (and just 3 chickens!)
• The garden is no longer hers
• The daily care has somehow become part of the routine, not a chore
• And if the coop isn’t opened on time there is pacing, impatient clucks and judgement

Nobody really prepares you for the weird little emotional attachment that comes with chickens.

You think you’re just getting fresh eggs and a cute coop… and then suddenly you’re:
🌿 checking on them first thing every morning
🌿 talking about their personalities like they’re toddlers
🌿 researching the best organic chicken feed
🌿 starting every second sentence with 'the girls... '

It’s a lot of learning, a little chaos and honestly way more joy than expected.

And while she’s still figuring things out as she goes, one thing she does feel good about is feeding quality organic feed from the start - because healthy and happy hens really do start with good nutrition 🌾

To our fellow chicken owners… what’s something nobody warned you about?

One of the most common questions backyard chicken keepers ask?
“Why does my chicken have runny p**p?” 💩

And honestly… sometimes the answer is completely harmless.

A strange cecal p**p here and there? Usually normal.
Hot weather? That can do it too.
Too many treats? The girls will absolutely let you know. 🤭

But persistent watery droppings can also be one of the first signs that something in the diet isn’t quite right.

Because digestive health starts long before problems appear. It starts with what’s in the feed bowl every day.

For chickens living in coops and backyard runs, we’re responsible for the majority of their nutrition - and the quality of that nutrition matters more than many people realise.

That’s why every Aus Organics feed is batch-crafted with certified organic ingredients and designed to support healthy digestion, natural vitality, and happier hens from the inside out.

Swipe through and save for a guide to what’s normal, what’s not, and when it might be time to dig a little deeper into your flock’s health.

Once we place a bird in a cage or aviary, their nutrition becomes our responsibility.

Unlike wild birds, our feathered VIPs can’t forage across landscapes searching for the wide variety of nutrients their bodies naturally rely on. Which means seed alone often isn’t enough to fully support long-term health and wellbeing.

That’s exactly why Dr Michael Evans developed TummyRite® - a nutritional supplement designed to help support digestion, immunity, and overall vitality in pet birds.

Created by the specialist avian nutritionists at Applied Nutrition and included in our bird range under licence, TummyRite helps plug the nutritional gaps seed-based diets can leave behind.

Because healthy birds aren’t built on guesswork.

They’re nurtured through thoughtful, balanced nutrition - one daily ritual at a time.

Choosing organic feed isn’t about chasing trends.

It’s about coming back to something simpler: clean ingredients, thoughtful nutrition, and caring deeply about what goes into the bowls, feeders, and troughs of the animals we love most.

Because whether they’re feathered or furred, our VIPs rely on us for almost every part of their nutrition.

And what we feed doesn’t just fill our VIPs bellies, it helps support digestion, resilience, vitality, and long-term wellbeing from the inside out.

That’s why we believe organic, where possible, matters.

Just certified organic ingredients, batch-crafted with care for healthier hens, happier hutches, thriving aviaries, and the flock of your heart.

From backyard chickens to our pet rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds - feeding is one of the most powerful ways we nurture the world around us.

One scoop at a time.

The mornings are getting colder. Your girls have noticed. Have you?

Winter changes the rhythm of the coop - and a few small adjustments now make a big difference when the cold really sets in.

Here's what we're doing before the temperature drops:

🏠 1. Check for drafts - ventilation yes, cold wind tunnels no. Seal gaps at floor level while keeping air moving at the top.

🌾 2. Review their feed - laying slows in winter and energy needs increase. Good quality organic feed keeps condition through the cold months.

💧 3. Watch the water - cold snaps can reduce drinking. Keep it fresh, accessible, and check it morning and night.

🥚 4. Don't panic about laying - shorter days = fewer eggs. It's not a failure. It's biology.

🐓 5. Extra scratch in the afternoon - a little extra grain before roosting helps them generate heat overnight.

Save this for when the cold really arrives.

Feathered or furred, we nourish them through every season.

There’s a lot happening in the gut of a healthy bird 🌿🪶

And according to Dr Michael Evans, founder of TummyRite® and one of Australia’s leading avian nutrition experts, that’s exactly where good health begins.

That’s why TummyRite® is included throughout our bird range as a digestive health supplement. Developed by our partners at Applied Nutrition, specialist avian and animal nutritionists, it’s used in Aus Organic Feeds under licence to help support:

✔️ Digestion and nutrient absorption
✔️ Healthy gut microflora
✔️ Natural immunity and overall wellbeing

Because feeding birds well isn’t just about what goes into the bowl…It’s about what their bodies are actually able to use from it.

Backed by more than four decades of research and development, TummyRite® was created to help birds get more from every feeding - supporting everything from feather quality and growth to breeding, vitality and long-term health.

In this conversation, Michael shares why a truly balanced diet plays such an important role in the wellbeing of our feathered VIPs.

This world started with chickens.

Clucks in the morning. Eggs in the basket. The flock of your heart moving through the garden.

And then it grew.

Quietly, the hutch appeared. The guinea pig took up residence and announced their presence immediately. The rabbit arrived softly, ears catching the morning light.

And then, the birds. Feathers of a different kind. A new kind of morning song.

The AOF world is bigger now. And whether they scratch, graze, squeak, or supervise from the sidelines - every VIP deserves the best.

Organic feed. Crafted with care. For the whole beautiful world of yours.

Feathered or furred, loved and nourished the natural way. 🌾🐔🐹🐇🦜
