We craft wines that are fruit-forward, food-friendly, and full of character. About Murray Street

Since its founding in 2001, Murray Street has grown to become one of the Barossa Valley's largest family-owned estates. Murray Street has earned a reputation for producing outstanding artisan wines and is recognized by Trip Advisor as a favourite Barossa Valley destination. With Ben Perkins serving as

Head Winemaker, Murray Street is writing a new chapter in artisan winemaking, bringing bright, fruit-forward, food-friendly, ready to enjoy wines to market with the Spring 2022 and Fall 2023 release of our newly hand-crafted Artisan and Estate wine ranges. About Our Wines

Murray Street red wines are bottled without fining and filtered to offer a richer palate experience and superior cellaring potential. We strive to produce wines that show a transparency of site and sense of place. Our wines are free of any animal products which makes them vegan friendly. These are true Domaine grown and crafted artisan wines. All Murray Street wines are crafted to be enjoyed upon release. Our red wines will benefit from decanting when consumed at an early age. Ben Perkins, Head Winemaker, has a steadfast commitment to create wines that over-deliver on quality, and demonstrate desired characteristics:

Fresh, bright, clean in the glass. Rich on the palate, exhibiting true varietal flavours. Food friendly. Soft tannins. Complementary oak flavour. Extended cellaring potential. Consistent profile across vintages. Moderate alcohol. Balanced acidity. This is what handcrafting wines at Murray Street is all about. About Our Vineyards

Our vineyards are located in the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley – a narrow strip of rolling hills separating the western Barossa Valley from the plains and Gulf St Vincent. This area is home to some of the oldest continuously producing commercial vineyards in the world, with grape varietals sought after by the region’s winemakers. Our Greenock and Gomersal vineyards are subdivided into fifty individually managed blocks, including remarkable old vine Shiraz and Grenache, and more recent but notable plantings of Mataro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Our winemakers work hand in hand with the viticulture team throughout the entire year, especially during the growing season when soil health is maintained, disease pressures are minimized, under-vine mulching implemented, and canopy-to-fruit ratios are optimized for the best results at the winery. During vintage, our head winemaker will visit the blocks across our vineyards daily, to ensure the quality of the fruit through a rigorous selection process. Murray Street Artisan, Estate and Icon wines are 100% Estate Grown.

The 2022 Greenock Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the Nenke and Vogt sections of the estate.

Cabernet may not get the attention that Shiraz does in the Barossa, which is perhaps why ours tends to surprise. Fine tannin, rich cassis, and a distinctive bay leaf character sit over a firm, elegant structure, a w**e built to carry comfortably through the end of the decade and well beyond.

Our Crowhurst Shiraz block was planted in 1960, and the second block in 1998.
Set in one of the Barossa’s most historic and sought-after sub-regions, these vines produce Shiraz defined by deep dark fruit, spice and the distinctive savoury character of Greenock ironstone.

Now, the vineyard lies dormant, resting through winter and preparing for the season ahead.

Good news Friday! Our Estate Shiraz 2022 has just been awarded Gold at the Sydney Royal W**e Show, along with an astounding 98 Points in The Vintage Journal Barossa Guide 2026.

“Deep crimson. Fresh panforte, dried plum, cassis aromas with praline/espresso notes. Concentrated and smooth with classical choco-berry panforte flavours, ripe sinuous tannins and beautifully integrated new oak notes. Finishes chocolaty with a cedar/graphite plume. The underlying acidity gives line, tension and length. A reference vintage. Now–2042”

Ben Perkins joined Murray Street as Chief W**emaker in 2019. His approach is straightforward: respect what the site gives you, and don’t add more than it needs.

The Estate range is where that philosophy is most clearly expressed with sympathetic, and diverse vessel ageing, tight parcel selection, and w**es that reflect Greenock to their core.

The Kassebaum block is planted with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon on ironstone loam above Greenock. These mature vines produce fruit with structure, depth and a clear sense of place.

This time of year, the vines are stripped back, revealing the character of the block — the soil, the slope, and the ironstone that defines this part of the ridge.

Throughout August, we're exploring the depth and character of Shiraz with a guided vertical tasting in the Murray Street Tasting Room.

Taste six w**es side by side, including three vintages of our Greenock Estate Shiraz and three vintages of Aria, each expressing the influence of season, site and time.

Served with Prima Donna Gouda, crackers and olives, it's an opportunity to experience how these w**es evolve across the 2020, 2021 and 2022 vintages.

Book in for our Shiraz Vertical Tasting — $40 per person
