Amazing the people you meet on the road!

Amelia Nolan (Amelia Iles)! is in China this week and kicked off events yesterday at Biotype Wine Bar Shanghai. A great session only got better when Eben Sadie arrived for a chat and a taste. The The Sadie Family Wines Soldaat Grenache is ever-present in all our bench-marking tastings. An inspirational wine…and a pretty epic human (and team!) behind it.

Events continue over the next few days in China, working closely with Cassidy Dart MW🍷, before Amelia heads on to Japan over the weekend for an exciting set of events with Jeroboam(ジェロボーム). Nothing better than sharing Australian fine wine stories with the world 👌

As we launched the new 2026 Kin Rose and 2025 Kin Grenache over the weekend it was the perfect opportunity to gather friends and share our story, wines and hospitality.

If you would love a holistic vigneron experience that explores our ancient Barossa soils and rocks, our winemaking philosophy, a cellar tasting and a delicious menu then please get in touch. We have several bookable experiences on the website, as well as the ability to create bespoke itineraries for medium sized groups.

And for the eagle-eyed amongst you, yes we did start with Bodega Garzón Sparkling Extra Brut, which has just landed - it’s looking epic!

Get in touch to discuss your booking or to purchase new releases, including the sparkling.

Thank you to SARAH CASTLE for the beautiful photography 📸

Join us to celebrate the release of two new Grenache wines that showcase different seasons and different styles.

2025 Kin Grenache - a warm, dry year and Kin Grenache shows its trademark structure and aromatic complexity with a touch more weight and fruit drive.

2026 Kin Rose - a later, cooler vintage yielding fruit with intensity and colour. Powerful, dry, textural Kin Rose from a wonderful newly grafted Grenache Block (20) containing a strip of limestone.

On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23 October you can have a guided tasting of these 2 new vintages with a serving of delicious 10 hour slow cooked pulled lamb and flatbreads for $25. Book in on our website to guarantee a spot.

Loving these words from CAMPBELL MATTINSON about our new 2025 Fractures Grenache.

You can count on Campbell for a great turn of phrase, with evocative prose and enthusiasm, always. His website is full of goodness. Take a look.

The whole Alkina team is delighted to share the news that our vineyard, and Polygon No. 1in particular, has been named as one of the 10 Greatest Vineyards in Australia, by Decanter Magazine.

With a list that includes Hill of Grace, Mt Edelstone, Tolpuddle, Florita, Bastard Hill, High Sands, Oakey Creek, Giaconda and Grosset’s Polish Hill, this is wonderful endorsement of how much has been achieved by Amelia, Johnny, Alberto, Pedro, Malcolm and the broader team in 10 short years.

It really is all about the vineyard and we love that this special place has been recognised by Decanter writer, David Sly, in this way. Polygon No. 1 is six rows of 70 year old Shiraz vines planted on heavily fractured schist and quartzite with precious little topsoil. These ancient rocks and the distinctive terroir of the Barossa’s Western Ridge are incredibly special.

NEW WINE ALERT: this is the one we’ve been waiting for!

So excited to launch the 2025 Fractures Grenache. Outside of our single Polygon releases, Fractures represents the very best blend of rocky Grenache parcels we can make. It speaks of fractured schist, limestone, and ancient Barossa soils and takes its name from the fine vine roots that live deep within those cracks - drawing up the mineral energy and tension that shape the wine.

Polygon No. 2 Grenache, grown on dense, bony schist, forms the backbone of the blend, layered with the limestone-driven purity of Block 18 and the schist-and-clay expression of Polygon No. 5.

“It brims with energy and nuance. Macerated red plum and cherry fruits suffused with tones of ginger cake, cold tea, fresh and pressed wildflowers, graphite, crushed schist and assorted twiggy tones. I love the minerally cut to its form and the cascade of schisty tannins that settle through the wine. The pure fruit and spice array draw out long and earthy on the exit.” Dave Brookes (Dave Brookes), Halliday Wine Companion

Beautiful Fractures sketch for the label provided by Pedro Parra 🙏
