On Saturday we attended the 2026 Cowra Show with just the two girls as Jet has now been turned out with a couple of mares. Numbers were down this year due to a lot of people being away at IMHR State Show, but we still had some tough competition and as always it was great to catch up with friends.

Champion Little Horse
1st LH Filly 2yrs & Under..and in the open ring:
Reserve Champion Led Colour
1st Led Pinto

I was very happy for Mimi to take out the reserve in the open ring among the paint/pinto, buckskin and palomino larger horses.

And to top it off, I won a bag of chaff in the ribbon raffle, donated by Dara Pastoral Co. and kindly collected by Sarah Apperley. I'll never say no to free horse feed 😁

We love our Horses At Home rugs here, you'll usually see our horses decked out in their cotton sets at shows as they are hands down the best fitting, and we love that we can mix and match hood and tail bag sizes and choose from a variety of binding colours, so there's no mixing up rugs when we throw them back on!

I've often had people ask me why I use a paddock cotton over the top of my pretty rugs, and there's two reasons for this. Firstly, I like that the crossover surcingles on ripstop rugs help to envelope a freshly washed horse in their clean show set, but also, it keeps the dust and shavings out of the velcro on their cotton sets and stable doonas. This not only prolongs the life of the rugs, but stops the horses from undoing velcro fastenings on each other!

Pictured is Ebony wearing the hybrid combo we won in a Facebook contest last year, and a blue with orange show set that is about five years old now but still looks as good as the day we took it from the bag.

No, we aren't sponsored by Horses At Home, this is just an honest review of their rugs as they've never let me down. However, if anyone from the company happens to read this, my other show filly is jealous and would love a hybrid combo too now... she's a 3'9... 😁🙏🤣

We welcomed our fourth foal of the season on 1st October, a blue-eyed chestnut pinto c**t we've named Badlands Thriller (AKA King).
Pictured here at four days of age, this c**t comes from my heart horse and superstar mare, Diva, so it's yet to be decided if I'll be able to part ways with him 😁

On Saturday we attended the 2026 Bribbaree Show with just the two horses. After a very wet day prior, wild storms right up to 7am on the morning of the show, and more rain forecast, we weren't even sure if we should go or not. But we took a gamble and the day ended up being sunny and dry. Bribbaree Show is always one of our favourites, it's a true country Ag show and not too far from home, we hate to miss it!

We couldn't be prouder to hear that Ali took out the judge's sportsmanship award today at the 2026 AMHS NSW Southern Tablelands Golden Shield Show in Yass with 𝘽𝙖𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙋𝙚𝙥𝙚 𝙇𝙚 𝙆𝙚𝙬𝙡 (Dusty). Nobody loves their pony more than this lad, and it shows in the big smiles he has when he is out having a red hot crack at everything with him, even if it doesn't always go to plan!

Biggest congrats to you all, Ali, Fiona and Dusty 👏

She didn't have a great day, the pony classes were hotly contested and she also decided she forgot how to trot! 😒 Her only placing was 1st in Solid Colour and nobody else showed up for the class. 🤣
You win some, you lose some.

Thank you to Amy for helping me grab pics of Jet & Mimi.

Another proud breeder moment!
Val and Badlands Lady Stardust (Zowie) attended the Qld Show Driving Championships at Gatton Showgrounds recently where they took out Champion Small Pony and Reserve Champion Pleasure Horse/Pony.
Big congratulations Val. 🥳😍

Michele and Badlands Jailhouse Rock, aka Toffee (formerly known as Angus), have been out and about the past couple of weeks brining joy to people by making visits to aged care facilities.
He's even had his first elevator ride and handled it like a pro. 😍
