IREC Irrigation Research and Extension Committee (IREC) Based in the Murrumbidgee Valley of NSW, Australia.

The Irrigation Research and Extension Committee (IREC) plays a pivotal role in providing a forum for irrigators, industry professionals, government agencies, industry groups and research and advisory organisations to engage on issues of common interest and concern, relevant to irrigated agriculture in the Murrumbidgee Valley of New South Wales. IREC has been active in the Murrumbidgee Valley since

1939 and through its cross-industry forum it has helped horticulturalists and broadacre irrigators to remain, productive, profitable and sustainable. IREC works with irrigators and the irrigation industry by:
•managing a range of research and extension projects, to investigate and communicate best practice options for irrigators
•hosting irrigated farm competitions, to recognise and showcase excellence in irrigation practice
•hosting seminars and field days to extend research information and farmer innovation
•extending research and advisory information through its magazine, the Farmers’ Newsletter

We can’t believe it’s been a week since the inaugural IREC Women in Irrigated Ag Conference!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended from the across the Murrumbidgee and Murray valleys. We had 118 women gather at the Whitton Malt House for a day of networking and learning from like-minded women about important matters in farming businesses. We heard from 5 amazing speakers who travelled from as far as Gosford to present topics of Water 101, Financial Literacy, WHS, Background to AI and using AI in Farming Businesses.

Some comments from the day:
“Excellent line up of speakers! It went for the perfect amount of time”
“Job well done! Great to see such a wide representation of women in ag”
“Thanks for an interesting and thought-provoking event. Loved being in a room full of women in ag”
“It was all great and useful information, highlight is the combination of everything and the opportunity that IREC has provided for our community”
“Relaxed nature of an all-female audience, real-life situations in the presentations”

Thank you again for attending and thank you to all our wonderful sponsors, support from Riverina Local Land Services and the Natural Heritage Trust for making this conference possible!
