IREC Irrigation Research and Extension Committee (IREC) Based in the Murrumbidgee Valley of NSW, Australia.

The Irrigation Research and Extension Committee (IREC) plays a pivotal role in providing a forum for irrigators, industry professionals, government agencies, industry groups and research and advisory organisations to engage on issues of common interest and concern, relevant to irrigated agriculture in the Murrumbidgee Valley of New South Wales. IREC has been active in the Murrumbidgee Valley since

1939 and through its cross-industry forum it has helped horticulturalists and broadacre irrigators to remain, productive, profitable and sustainable. IREC works with irrigators and the irrigation industry by:
•managing a range of research and extension projects, to investigate and communicate best practice options for irrigators
•hosting irrigated farm competitions, to recognise and showcase excellence in irrigation practice
•hosting seminars and field days to extend research information and farmer innovation
•extending research and advisory information through its magazine, the Farmers’ Newsletter

Formation of Cotton Seed Distributors Ltd (CSD) on 5 April, 1967. CSD is an industry-owned, not-for-profit company serving as the sole supplier of elite cotton planting seed for the Australian cotton industry. Headquartered in Wee Waa, New South Wales, CSD supplies seeds, germplasm, and agricultural biotechnology to maximize yields and fibre quality.

Through Cotton Breeding Australia (a joint venture with the CSIRO), CSD develops and distributes locally adapted cotton varieties, overseeing strict seed increase programs to maintain genetic purity.
