CATAHOULA UPDATE: [TCI SUCCESSFULL]

Most of you don’t know that we have been kept very busy this last few weeks travelling back and forth to Brisbane. The 3.30am 4 hour round trips were wearing thin to say the least, but nevertheless for a very good reason.

Inca has been undertaking regular progesterone testing to prepare her for her TCI (artificial insemination) coming up this Tuesday!

Fair Mate’s Inca will be mated to Connor Navarre D’anjou, our imported semen all the way from Navarre D'anjou Catahoulas in Europe. Exciting times!

This is NEW semen to Australia from an outstanding dog and linage. And very much needed for the ongoing health of the breed in this country.

We have all our fingers crossed for a successful insemination🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

We are ethical NALC Registered breeders of Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dogs in Australia and only use health tested (DM & HD/ED tested) breeding dogs in our program. To express interest in a future pup please feel free to email us at 📧 [email protected]

Yaramoon is expanding! 🌾

We will now be located at two farm locations: Tandur & Oakview, South East Queensland.

We are excited to expand our coastal Nguni Stud and begin the development of our commercial line.

Watch this space for all things Nguni 🥩

What a day!

This morning a small group of us met with the Queensland Halter rep who gave a very informative rundown of Halter virtual fencing collars for beef cattle. The benefits of this new technology is very cool!

I’d say the main one would be assisting farmers to implement virtual high density/rotational grazing practices and optimise usage of every inch of a farm…More cattle = more profit! The list of features was quite impressive I must say. The collars even utilise built in heat detection sensors to provide calving alerts. I went into the conversation with a vague idea of their uses and benefits but I did walk away pretty impressed to be honest. They’re worth a look!

We are also very lucky to live a stones throw away from an award winning regenerative beef and mushroom farm. Eastwell Farms is located in Kin Kin, a magical spot in the Noosa Hinterland. Visiting their beautiful Nguni herd and chatting all things regenerative farming with owner Bryant is always a day well spent.

I couldn’t leave without bringing the fam home some of their Eastwell Farm chemical free grass fed meat too! Dinner tonight is sorted 🥩

We have recently pulled in 3 bull calves for weaning.

This is day 5 of handling them.

We take them through the crush before every single feed (twice a day) so by the time they have finished their weaning time in the yards they should be absolute dudes with the process.

When they get really comfortable with crush I will start putting them in the head bale.

These three are making life pretty easy for me I must say.
