WOOL MARKET INTELLIGENCE
Australian Wool Innovation's wool market intelligence report, recently released for March 26, has shown a firmer tone through the month with increased buyer activity and strengthening competition – particularly from China – lifting prices off recent lows.

There is also a renewed sense of optimism returning to the market, underpinned by improving demand and tightening supply. Stronger engagement from China has been a key driver.

According to AWI’s General Manager – International, Stephen Hill, buyers who had been waiting for more favourable conditions have started to move.

“China has recently stormed back into the market for new greasy wool orders at the end of March,” Hill said.

For woolgrowers, this shift is less about short-term price movement and more about renewed confidence on the buying side of the market – a signal that demand is beginning to re-engage.

BIOHARVESTING UPDATE
Australian Wool Innovation-funded bioharvesting research has been underway for several years. As the project moves into its next phase, the focus is now on refining the most promising injectable agent pathways and moving closer to solutions that could work in real on-farm conditions.

A new three-year research phase is now being contracted with Adelaide University to take the project forward.
