And just like that, another kidding season at Timlen Boer Goat Stud has come to an end!

What a season it’s been — plenty of long nights, early mornings, surprises, laughs, tears, and just a few babies arriving at very inconvenient hours! 😂

✨ 64 kids from 27 does
📈 237% kidding rate
🐐 10 sets of triplets
🐐 17 sets of twins
🎀 34 doe kids
💙 30 buck kids

We couldn’t be happier with the results and are so proud of the does and the job they’ve done this season. ❤️
And a massive shoutout to my Co-midwife Emma Chambers for making me go and have a nap after I’d been awake all night delivering babies 😂 Sometimes you need someone to tell you to step away from the chaos and actually sleep! And to the best Mum Jenny Cook for holding down the fort with the house bottle baby!

Now for the next challenge… keeping the Mumma’s and babies healthy and out of trouble! 😅🐐

Well our final girl for our August due group kidded just in time for me to go to work Friday night with a beautiful set of twin does. To say I’m ready for the week and a half break until our final 6 girls are due to kid the first weekend of September is an understatement. We had 21 does kid within 7 days with 52 kids hitting the ground for an even 26/26 buck to doe ratio. So far we’ve had 11 sets of twins and 10 sets of triplets 🤯

We are officially 4 days into kidding season and already nearly half way done. We’ve had 33 kids out of 13 does, consisting of 7 sets of triplets and 6 sets of twins for 20 buck kids and 13 doe kids. 8 does left to drop in the next few days and a few stragglers due at the beginning of September. Let’s hope the girls try to avoid the front coming in later today 😅

🐐💉 Pre-kidding vaccination day!

One of the most important jobs before kidding. Vaccinating our does 4–6 weeks before they kid helps pass protective antibodies to their kids through colostrum, giving them the best possible start and protection against clostridial diseases during those critical first weeks of life.

A little work now goes a long way towards a healthy kidding season. 🤎

The girls weren't too happy about the 40 ml of rain and wind we had over a 10-hour period, but they sure enjoyed cleanup duty of the fallen tree branches.

Our 8 month old does believe everything tastes so much better when you get it straight from the source! Or in Minnie’s case when you take a little rest on it as well 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s a very hard life for these girls trying to choose between a feeder full of oaten hay or a nice big round of meadow… I swear they aren’t spoilt 🫣
