Bird flu mainly spreads to people from infected birds. Infections in people are rare but can be severe. Staying away from sick or dead birds is the best way to protect yourself.

Summer is the odour in my tank season. This is a natural problem and it may be "something is dead in the tank", although more often it is the build up of organic materiel being broken down by bacteria in the lower reaches of the storage. The attached Aerating Stale Well Water is from a 1945 book reprinted in 1980, showing the problem has been with us always. Posted as well is the following article of one way to avoid the problem, please do not use a modern equivalent of a round up container to float the suction I once found in a tank.
