The long weekend in Victoria is the perfect excuse to slow down, gather with friends, and open something truly special.
One bottle we love reaching for on a long weekend is the Diciotto Primitivo Salento IGT 2019 from Schola Sarmenti in Puglia. A powerful and beautifully crafted expression of Primitivo, this limited-edition release is made from 80-year-old vines grown using the traditional Apulian alberello method.
With an impressive 18% ABV, Diciotto is bold yet refined. The 2019 vintage shows an intense ruby colour with aromas of ripe red fruits layered with balsamic and spice. Aged for 14 months in new oak tonneaux followed by 12 months in bottle, it delivers a velvety, complex palate and a long persistent finish.
It is the kind of wine made for slow meals over the long weekend. Think rich red meat dishes, game, or aged cheeses shared around the table.
At Arquilla Wine & Spirits, we are proud to bring wines like this from southern Italy to Australia. Wines that tell a story of old vines, tradition, and uncompromising craftsmanship.
