Hillston Farm, a 1,200-hectare potato farm in central New South Wales, some 680 kilometres west of Sydney and 570 from Melbourne are seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Manager to lead an enthusiastic team of farm workers in the daily operations. We are a family owned and operated company along with our packing and distributing business Red Gem Growers and Packers, who were established in 1954. We pride ourselves on supplying high quality produce to our Australian and international customers.
As the Farm Operations Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading an experienced team, you’ll develop and oversee seasonal cropping, nutrition, and protection plans while planning for key resources including consumables, machinery, and staff.
As a results-driven professional with significant experience in large-scale, intensive horticulture, you will manage our irrigated crop operations. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong background in crop production, technology and mechanical expertise.
In this role you will
• Oversee the cultivation of potato crops.
• Lead by example, teaching and mentoring staff to foster a productive and respectful work environment.
• Manage farming operations with a meticulous eye for detail, timeliness, and cleanliness.
• Ensure equipment and machinery are well-maintained and operate efficiently, including harvesting equipment.
• Utilise technology, Microsoft programs, and OH&S systems.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as tractor, forklifts and harvesting equipment.
• Assist in budgeting and ensure operations align with financial goals.
• Report directly to the General Manager.
To be successful in this role your will possess:
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire teams and improve collaboration.
• A track record of driving operational performance
• Proven experience in irrigated crop production and mechanical systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with fresh food harvesting equipment and irrigation systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, workplace health and safety protocols.
A competitive remuneration package will be offered including significant base remuneration including a 4-bedroom house on the property and company vehicle.
