Grenache & Autumn 🍷🍂

Grenache is one of those grapes that really comes into its own when the weather cools down.

Known for its bright red fruit (strawberry, raspberry, cherry) and gentle spice, Grenache sits lighter in structure than many other reds — but still brings plenty of flavour and warmth.

So why does it work so well in autumn?

As the days get cooler, we naturally shift towards richer foods — think roasted vegetables, slow-cooked lamb, and spiced dishes. Grenache’s juicy fruit, soft tannins, and subtle savoury edge make it the perfect bridge between fresh summer reds and heavier winter wines.

It’s also incredibly versatile:
• Chill it slightly for a fresher, brighter style
• Or enjoy it with a bit of bottle age for more earthy, savoury complexity

Grenache = comfort without heaviness 🍷✨
Perfect for that in-between season where you still want vibrancy, but with a bit more depth.

Rep Recommends:

Claire is all over Riesling’s at the moment, and here are some of her Mainlaind Picks:

Foudre Ferment - Textural and layered with citrus, subtle oak and mineral depth.

- Bright citrus, delicate florals and a clean, refreshing finish.

Trevarrick - Zippy lime, floral lift and elegant acidity.

Riesling really hits its stride in autumn — that lively acidity cuts through richer, cooler-weather dishes, while the citrus and softer textural mouthfeel adds depth and balance 🍂🍋

WORLD TANNAT DAY 🍷

Most people don’t talk about Tannat enough —
but venues that know it, love it.

Tannat is a bold red grape originally from south-west France, now most famously grown in Uruguay, where it’s become something of a national variety.

It’s known for:
• Deep colour
• Firm tannin structure (it’s not shy)
• Dark fruit + spice
• Serious ageing potential

This is a wine that sits firmly in the “food wine” category — think grilled meats, rich sauces, shared plates, winter menus.

But here’s the interesting part for venues:
Tannat is one of those grapes that works really well by the glass
when you want something a bit different on the list — something guests don’t see every day, but still delivers big flavour.

Vintage Review from :

“Vintage 2026 was slow to start, but it’s allowed for a longer time on the vines for the grapes to ripen. Some beautiful fruit coming into the winery! Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir are all safely in the winery, with small parcels of shiraz coming in. Here’s a snapshot of some of the action to date.”

🥃WHISKY WEDNESDAY🥃

on show for April!

This Wednesday (8/4) we’ll be pouring $10 nips of Bourbon and Port Cask Matured Pot Still Whisky!

This tasty whisky is distinguished by its warm fruity nose; creamy-sweet and viscous mouthfeel; nutty, grassy characters, and lingering spicy finish. 🍃
