All hands on deck at Southview Orchard!

We’re thinning the last row of white nectarines before the fruit really starts to size up.

This year, we’re lucky to have two WHV holders, Andrea and Sofia, joining us for the harvest season.

There’s plenty of work to do, but with a few extra hands, we’re getting there! 😊🌿

Another early blossom ripening!

This year, winter hasn’t been very cold, which brought on some early blossoms.

Many of them didn’t make it, but a few survived — and now we get to reap the sweetness!

We’re expecting to be in full harvest mode around the middle of October.

I still had some frozen peaches from last year’s harvest, so I decided to turn them into a peach cake.

🍑 So, what do we do in September at Southview Orchard? 🌿

Thinning, thinning and more thinning! 🍑 The art of leaving just two fruits on each limb so the remaining peaches have room to grow into beautiful, juicy fruit.

And yes, with the help of Kaysha, we’ve also been busy grafting to replace some of the dead trees in the orchard. 🌱

And then there’s our never-ending story… fixing the netting! 😅🕸️

Plenty happening behind the scenes as we get ready for another peach season. Fingers crossed for a good one! 🍑🤞

While we’re taking a break from our Peach Festival this year, our baby peaches are already out there! 🍑

We’ve noticed fewer bees around the orchard this year, but luckily, peach trees are self-pollinating, so our little peaches are happily growing away.

Fingers crossed for a wonderful peach season ahead, and we hope to see plenty of beautiful, juicy peaches on the trees! 🍑🌱

🍑 Update from Southview Orchard 🍑

We will be taking a break from our Peach Festival this year while John focuses on his recovery.

Our peaches will still be available at your local farmers markets, so you can still enjoy our delicious, tree-ripened fruit! 🍑

We look forward to being back next year with a slightly different format and, hopefully, seeing you all again at the orchard.

Don't worry — we've got both coming to the Casino Lions Farmers Market!

While our peach trees are enjoying their winter dormancy, we're keeping busy in the garden planting a range of brassicas. They're all organically grown from certified organic seedlings and will be ready for you to enjoy throughout the cooler months.

Of course, winter isn't exactly a quiet season on the farm. Alongside the vegetable garden, we're also busy with winter pruning, repairing netting, and preparing the orchard for another fruitful season ahead.

One thing's for sure — on the farm, the work never stops! 🌱🍑🚜
