3 dogs on the drone. Owner contacted us after seeing footage on another group and is looking for them trying to get them home. We were worried as we thought they were wild dogs and we rid wild dogs from our property when we can and even more so with calves on ground but we will try to help owner get these dogs home

So quick farm update. Got poo spreader version one done. Needs some refinement but I knew that would happen. Need to be heavier and to have some grip to break up poo for chain to spread it so I started drilling and tapping holes for a metric s**t tonne of small bolt to go in to it. I have had these bolts sitting in shed for awhile so good use for them they need to have thread sealer on the them to stop the water I plan on putting in drum from leaking out. Water will probably eventually rust out the drum but if I drain it when not In use should be ok. Secondly we had a new calf. The youngest daughter’s cow has now had her third calf and the mini farmer called it Cleo.

A few weeks ago I read a quote from another cattleman that said that to be a cattle farmer you first must be a grass farmer. With this in mind I went on a hunt to work out how to improve our feed without either spending a load of money or breaking away from trying to be as natural as possible. I thought why not use what we have cow poo. So I went to ISFAB with idea in my mind to get some steel and came home with steel and a plan. On the bench you see a big steel pipe I’m making end caps and to that I will weld little stubs for tow attachments and so it rolls with some big drag chains behind it to crush and spread the cow poo in the paddocks to hopefully put some nutrients back into soil and remove the manure to hopefully cut down on the flys. Stayed tuned for finished product

So it’s been a little under a week since we bought the drone. I must say that I’m highly impressed with the capabilities it opens up on the farm. We got a DJI mini 5 pro kit. We bought our drone from JB hifi and it was a pleasant experience with the salesperson being extremely helpful didnt push us into buying anything we didn’t want or need. The drone now allows us to check fences check for predators and check the cows from home without wasting fuel driving around looking for cows playing hide and seek. It will also allow us to video more of the musters and landscape to give you our followers more of a look into our property. We still haven’t learnt all its features but with time it will come. I upgraded from the soft case to a hard tactix box from Bunnings to keep it safe.

Learnt a life hack today working in shed. Jumbuck bbq wipes work effectively as hand wipes to remove grease and oil. They are only around 4 bucks a pack from Bunnings but clean hands great and the cleaning nodules help scrub your hands.

It’s a hard farming day today. After doing the meat works run which is always tough anyways we came home to check on calves and found Norman the new calf had passed away during the night. He looked fine yesterday afternoon be it a little skinny.
We think mum or him had a feeding problem and he didn’t or couldn’t get what he needed. Please remember that farming isn’t always happy and good. The loss of one calf hurts not only our business but also our hearts and souls

Welcome to the world Norman. Teddy little bull calf born a couple days ago.
