While most sensible people are inside with a hot cuppa, our team is out in the paddocks planting the next crop. Wet boots. Cold fingers. Mud everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE!
The vegetables don't stop growing because it's raining, and the weeds certainly don't stop either! So rain, hail or shine, there is always something happening here at Volcano Produce. Planting, harvesting, weeding, washing, packing orders, stocking the farm shop, and getting fresh produce ready for our customers.
Farming is both incredibly hard and incredibly rewarding. One moment you're battling wind and rain, and the next you're standing in a paddock watching a perfect sunrise over rows of healthy crops you've nurtured from seed.
Those challenging days make the good days even better.
Every bunch of broccoli, every leek, every carrot and every strawberry that leaves this farm has a story behind it. A story of early mornings, muddy boots, sore backs, and people who genuinely care about growing food the right way. The hard way! No pesticides. No herbicides.
So while you're staying warm and dry, spare a thought for the farmers out there keeping food on Australian tables.
And if you're enjoying fresh, local produce this winter, know that somewhere, someone was probably standing in the rain to make it happen.
