We’re soooo excited to have Esme home with us in Qld. For those heading to the Ekka this year, you’ll be able to see this beautiful heifer and likely Haylee curled up in the stall with her🥰

After donkey saved our tiny calf from 2 wild dogs early this morning we thought it safer to have little ‘Buzz Lightyear’ and his mum Bella up at the house with us leaving donkey to protect the slightly older calves. His little legs were so tiny Haylee gave him a ride on the quad bike. Thanks Josh and Marie for the great name suggestion on your farm visit this morning. They’re now both settled in our dog proof area with our 7 weaners up here.

More Bella baby coo spam. Donkey was on babysitting duty this morning and seemed very comcerned when the little guy got too close to the fence. Good Donkey!

I’ve never been so grateful that the Queensland Railway changes train drivers right outside my gateway. I had 5 of my heifers escape this morning and because the trains were going slow thankfully none got hit.

A few photos from the Australian Highland Cattle Society Inc National Show Haylee was over the moon that her Esme (bred and loved by Koolah Creek Highlands) placed 4th in Class 1b Heifer 8 months and under 12 months. Haylee also placed 5th in the Junior Paraders competition which was a massive achievement. I’m so proud how she supported and led cattle for other Qld breeders as well as mentoring younger members. A massive shout out to Narraburra Farm - Kooroongarra, Darling Downs for flying her down so she could attend the show and transporting Esme back to Qld and Koolah Creek Highlands - Mid North Coast NSW for giving Haylee a warm bed to sleep in and trusting us with Esme. And as always, Mostyn Highland Fold for trusting her with your cattle.

Haylee’s home from the National Show just in time to meet Bella’s baby boy. For a first time mum, she’s doing amazing! Even positioning herself to protect him from the wind while he was still wet. We’ll share show results tomorrow but today is all about this little man. Congratuations mum Bella and dad Mattie from Narraburra Farm - Kooroongarra, Darling Downs Name suggestions welcome 🤠

Haylee nearly didn’t make it but I’m so glad she did. After leaving home at 3.30 to catch a flight to Sydney then Orange all was going to plan until the plane couldn’t land due to poor visibility. After circling Orange for nearly an hour they thought they’d try one more time before returning to Sydney. Thanks Steve from Narraburra Farm - Kooroongarra, Darling Downs for driving all the way to Orange to pick her up and waiting there for her. She made it to Bathurst showgrounds with enough time to meet her new little calf Esme (who she’s completely smitten with) before Junior Judging started. I’m delighted to share that she placed 3rd in the Senior division of the Junior Judging Competition. I was concreting on the farm today and missed it but will be sure to watch Haylee and Esme and all the other outstanding competitors via livestream tomorrow. I think there are over 80 cattle entered in the national show this year. Amazing!
