The Chef and the cashier is 24 years married today😄
While preparing to leave and shop, I said "90% of the reason why we have great relationship is our relationship with the Lord"
Brian corrected me he said "it's 100%".
It is a marriage where two imperfect people kept choosing each other... and this is hard. Bakit? Because by choosing your partner again and again, you will have to crucify your flesh.
How would you choose a person, who was mean to you just an hour ago?! Your flesh will scream "revenge".
We give them allowances for mistakes. Kasi alam natin na di sila perfect and so we are.
We learned to communicate instead of destroy each other.
We learned to apologise instead of protect our pride.
We forgave instead of keeping score.
We protected our friendship kahit minsan gusto ng ichismis😄
We made time for each other.
I will credit to my Nanay in this - she said "You are a wife, before you became a mother'.
We stood together when life became difficult... or hanging by a thread.
We celebrated the good seasons and survived the painful ones.
We learned that marriage isn't 50/50 it's 100/100. Some days one gives 80 while the other can only give 20. And someday, the roles may reverse.
Ww learned that love is more than butterflies and romance.
Sabi sa Corinthians 13:
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
And for us believers, it is learning to place Him at the centre—praying, forgiving, extending grace and trusting Him through every season.
24 years doesn't mean you never wanted to walk away.
It means you found enough reasons to stay, enough humility to change, enough grace to forgive, and enough love to keep choosing each other.
Because at the end of the journey, the greatest achievement isn't simply celebrating 50 years.
It's being able to look at the person beside you and say:
“We've been through so much. And after everything… I'd still choose you.” ❤️
May God bless every marriage with wisdom, grace and strength to make it to 50 years and beyond...
And i believe it will happen through God's grace.
May our marriage (that includes you my friends) not just survive but thrive... May we enjoy abundance in all areas as was promised in Jeremiah 29:11.
In Jesus Name. Amen
