“LONG LIVE THE KING, THE KING IS DEAD”
After 10 tumultuous years, the reign of Bambi has ended. We in parts, loved him and loathed him depending on the day. He devoted his life to making ours harder. His stock in trade was emptying the freezers, feeding the sausage dogs, raiding the quarters beer fridge ( he loved pay day at Argyle)
He could eat almost anything, although Grasslan did not agree with him. There Was neither a lock or fence that was his match.
He was given the Argyle equivalent of a state funeral today by Jimmy and Lindsay, buried with a packet of smokes and a few ###X Gold cans, a couple of his most favourite things.
We are sure his last wish is that all the old Argyle ringers would raise a can for him.
Our lives will certainly be quieter without Bambi, but he will undoubtedly be in our conversations for years to come.

The photo we have been waiting for! On the 27th September this year, Jimmy who started with us fresh out of school in 2018, married his lovely Lindsay, who joined our family in 2021. To have so many of the Argyle family joined together for such an occasion was pure joy. Brothers, school mates, and mates by chance, all had a common bond. They met and worked together for Argyle Pastoral Company. We have been so blessed to have been surrounded by such wonderful humans for so many years, but to join with many of them agin for such a special wedding, gave me all the beautiful feels ###
To Jimmy and Lindsay, may you love long and hard, enjoy good times and create beautiful memories ###

Although we may have been very Facebook quiet this year, there has been a huge amount happening on the Argyle Pastoral Company front.
The last two seasons have been fantastic in the North West, however this year has exceeded them, and may well go down as the best season in history. We are nearly in August, and we still have green grass out on the run.January was very hot and dry, however the next three months delivered beautiful rain that slowed our start down considerably. We will not finish our first round of mustering until the very end of August!
This year we welcomed our daughter Ella home, after three years working away in WA and the Northern Territory. It is lovely to have her home, and fitting in with everyone. We celebrated her 21st very quietly due to the wet weather, here at home.
Will finished year 12 at the end of last year, but was invited back to school in February to accept the Dux award for Engineering. Proud parent moment. He is working about two hours away, so we get to see a bit of him which is great.
No changes with the rest of the crew this year. We have had visits from the Morris and Matthewson families already this year, and we will catch up with many ”OLD ARGYLIANS” at Jimmy and Lindsay’s wedding in September!
We have mustered all our Downs country, as well as cattle we have away on agistment, and work is now focused on getting Cooradine into gear so we can start mustering in a couple of weeks. A huge amount of damage was caused to roads and fences up there due to the big wet, so getting roads into gear is paramount. The country is still so wet, that bogging the loader is a regular occurrence, just ask poor Nick! Quite the expert!
In breaking news, THE ARGYLE QUARTERS ARE RENOVATED🍾🍾We are so excited to have the quarters finally finished and looking very spiffy. The boys were super excited to move back in, and we are excited for them too!
We have all managed to get to a few campdrafts for some down time. A few ribbons have been won, and finals made, so we are a fairly happy bunch. The next big social event for us is Sedan Dip in the middle of August, and a firm favourite on our calendar.
There is plenty more work to be done for the rest of the year, and when storm season approaches from October/November we will have to be super vigilant with such a high fuel load for the inevitable bushfires that plague us in the good years.
As always, we are so blessed to have such a great group of young people around us, who know and enjoy their job, and whom people speak highly of.

And that’s a wrap for season 2024, for Argyle Pastoral Company. A huge thank you to these awesome humans that keep the wheels turning, day in, day out. You are so very appreciated, and we acknowledge the care and pride you take in your work, in all aspects of it.
Only one not returning next year. Jack, thank you for everything, and good luck working in your family’s rural contracting business. I am sure we will see you around the ridges.
Have a wonderful Christmas, drive safe, and we will see you back in 2025, refreshed, and keen to do it all again!
