Since 2012, our vision at Hickinbotham has been to craft wines that honour and reflect our legendary Clarendon vineyard. Recognition like this reminds us why we do what we do.⁠

We’re proud to share that four Hickinbotham wines have been recognised in The Real Review’s Wine Classification of Australia 2025:⁠

The Peake Cabernet Shiraz - 3 Merit⁠

Fittingly shared on Cabernet Day 🍷 - thank you to the team at Wine Companion for the feature “How Chris Carpenter is building upon Hickinbotham’s impressive legacy in McLaren Vale” in last weekend’s reading.⁠

“When Pete asked me to come over here, he knew I wasn’t going to make Cali-style wines in Australia,” Chris shares. What he didn’t know at the time was just how much McLaren Vale would influence his own winemaking.⁠

'He came to understand and know the various plots of the unique Clarendon site intimately, a site characterised by its elevation, ancient soils and the cooling breezes off the Saint Vincent Gulf. His learnings were ultimately fast-tracked by the knowledge imparted from the incredible winemaking and viticultural talent in the region.'⁠

The result: ageworthy, site-expressive wines that honour and advance Hickinbotham’s legacy.⁠

From the hills of Clarendon to the heart of the Limestone Coast - this August, Hickinbotham Wines is heading south.⁠

After a sold-out Tasting Australia event at our vineyard earlier this year (pictured), we’re bringing the experience to Mayura Station for one unforgettable evening of food, wine, and place.⁠

Settle into the warmth of the Mayura Tasting Room as Chef Mark Wright presents a five-course menu celebrating Mayura’s legendary full-blood Wagyu. Each dish will be paired with our elegant, expressive Hickinbotham wines, presented by winemaker Guillaume Camougrand. ⁠

Introducing the 2022 The Nest Cabernet Franc, a pure expression of Block 107, our 0.9-hectare single vineyard parcel planted in 2013 atop ancient ironstone-laced soils.⁠

Hand-picked on 29 March 2022, The Nest was wild fermented, basket pressed and matured in French oak for 15 months. The result is a Cabernet Franc of both elegance and structure. ⁠

As Campbell Mattinson writes,⁠
"Both balance and texture are key features of this wine though the long, elegant flow of flavour through the finish is arguably the high point… Everything about this wine feels quality."⁠
