We are heartbroken to share Peter Fraser, our loved, respected, and admired winemaker at Yangarra and Hickinbotham and a friend to so many across the wine community, has passed away. For more than 25 years, Pete was the driving force behind Yangarra and was an incredible winemaker, thought leader, mentor, and a defining voice in the industry. All of us who had the privilege of working with him are devastated by this loss. He was deeply loved, and his legacy is profound.

Our thoughts are with his family and with the many friends whose lives he touched. We ask our community to keep his loved ones in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

This recognition is reserved for the most iconic wines of the country - those with a true sense of place and a proven track record. Fewer than 0.5% of Australian wines are awarded this tier, and High Sands stands proudly as the only Grenache to be listed among them.⁠

Even the wine globes are rugged up for winter 🧣🍷⁠
In our cellar door, you might spot these striking Wine Globes - wrapped up in protective sleeves as they mature white wine from the 2025 harvest. The covers shield the wine from light exposure, while still letting you catch a glimpse of the magic inside that is also occurring in the ceramic eggs below.⁠

On the left, the clairette is still resting on skins, developing texture and complexity, with soft, gentle movement helping the maturation along. It’s a slow, patient process, one that will eventually reveal a vibrant expression of our estate fruit.
