Fog this morning 😍

109mm since I last visited the farm about 4 weeks ago. The grass has grown significantly and a some has already gone to seed. I’ll do pasture measurements tomorrow. In the meantime I’m enjoying the beautiful sunset! 😍

Experiment: Rocks & timber to prevent erosion

55mm of rain much of which landed in the past few days, is starting to have erosion impact on the edge of the pond. I’m going to experiment with rocks & logs to see if I can “slow the flow”.

Electric fencing: Earth Rods & Insulated wire repair (22/05/2026)

This afternoon’s main activity was to reconnect the insulated wire that was cut during some brush cutting and to connect up the earth stakes near the main solar energizer to improve the earth for the boundary fence.

The resulting test looks positive however the is a fault on the fence further up which I will find tomorrow.

We have had 30.5mm of rain since the downpour I shared 6 weeks ago in early April.

We had a flush of pasture growth over the following 2 weeks but growth has since slowed with some areas showing stress.

I completed pasture measurements for about half the pasture 2 weeks ago (10/05) and whilst the north west paddock is once again relatively well, there is a mix of density, coverage and height across all paddocks. Cape w**d, onion grass, silver grass & clover cover a lot of areas so we will hope to target these areas with grazing. Sadly not much growth since these measures 2 weeks ago across the lower half of the property.

I’m collecting rocks wherever I go to clear them from the paddocks and later use for gabion walls. I’m always interested to see what is hiding underneath and always happy when I find something living! Especially worms!!
