These Buff Silkies arrived at the start of last week all the way from The Mitchell Farm.

They will give us a good solid team along with Orion and his girls. Orion being our main boy and this guy our backup.

The 9 year old Mini Board Member is still deciding on names for them but something tells me she will pick something star/space/greek mythology related.

Quick photo opportunity before this girl and three of her feathered friends make the trip across the Bass Strait to their new home in Tassie today!

Normally it's the Mini Board Members who don't want any of them to leave, but I have to admit I'm a little attached to this one myself. I absolutely love her colouring.

Safe travels little one!

The not so glamorous side of our little hobby.
Coop cleaning, sanitising and pest control.

This is the part we keep the Mini Board Members away from as we don’t want them breathing in the chicken dander, dust and p**p particles.

Always wear a mask when cleaning out chicken coops to protect yourself and your lungs!

We get asked a lot of questions about poultry health, care, and wellbeing, and we know it can be hard to separate good advice from old wives' tales.

Finding a vet with poultry knowledge can also be challenging when one of your feathered friends isn't feeling their best.

That's why we're excited to be partnering with Dr Sarah Webb from Chicken Advice Service, a mixed-practice veterinarian with a real passion for poultry.

Sarah offers Australia-wide veterinary consultations via Zoom and can provide tailored advice and support for your flock. Where needed, she can also help with access to medications and treatment options through the appropriate veterinary channels.

Whether you're dealing with parasites, health concerns, nutrition questions, biosecurity issues, or simply want some expert guidance, help is now much easier to access.

We're also looking forward to sharing some Poultry Keeping 101 content with Dr Sarah in the coming months, covering common questions, practical flock management, and evidence-based advice to help keep your birds happy and healthy.

🐔 Because every flock deserves quality veterinary care.

2026/2027 Fertile Egg List

We've decided to open our fertile egg waitlist a little earlier this year!

A lot of people have already started asking about eggs for the upcoming breeding season, so we thought it would be easier to get a waitlist going now rather than trying to keep track of messages spread across the year.

Depending on breed, we're hoping to start offering fertile eggs from August onwards. As always, that timeline depends entirely on the girls and what they decide to do. Mother Nature has a habit of ignoring our plans. 😅

We can customise orders to suit the breeds you're after, however we won't be offering Mystery Broody Dozens this season. We'd rather focus on providing people with the specific breeds they're looking for.

Orders will be filled in the order they are received. While we'll do our best to accommodate preferred timeframes, we can't guarantee dates or availability. Fertile eggs are one of those things that are completely out of our hands at times.

If you were on last season's waitlist and missed out, but are still interested, please send us a message. We'll make every effort to honour your previous place in the queue.

A few logistics:
🥚 Collection is available Sunday or Monday morning.
📮 Posted orders will be sent on Mondays. Prices are per dozen eggs. Postage is extra
📦 We pack our eggs carefully, but once they leave us we can't control how they're handled or guarantee hatch rates etc

You may notice some breeds are marked as N/A on the waitlist. While we won't be taking orders for these breeds, there may occasionally be some available throughout the season. If that happens, they'll simply be listed on our page and offered on a first in, first served basis.

As we finish pairing up breeding groups and the birds complete their moults, we'll start sharing more photos and information about what's planned for the season ahead (in between chasing Mini Board Members and taking photos of chickens that refuse to cooperate, of course).

Giveaway winner!

Excuse the Mini Board Members in the background, they are quite chirpy today 😂

Congratulations to our winner Beverley Langman.

The weather has not been kind for chicken photography 😂

So we have some Silkie Pullets needing a new abode.

Dark Blues, Splash and White available.
