Congratulations to all those who participated in the day. Especially to Bethany and Harrison. Although we couldn’t be there to watch we are sure that the results reflect the effort and dedication the two of you have put in to the industry.

And just like that 2026 Autumn calving has begun!

This morning we have awoken to a fresh born heifer calf out of one of our Murray Grey Association Australia Inc. cows Campaspe Creek Pearl MEV R01. Pearl is a very cleaver and smart cow who raises her calves with the perfect mix of sass and politeness although some of them sometimes have a bit more sass to them. Pearl is one of our commercials that is willing to come and say Hi to you in a paddock and will except kiss from you (except if your name is Murph you might not get many).

We have since been surprised with a gorgeous bull calf out of Pearls Mother Campaspe Creek Bessie (Commercial). Bessie joined our herd in 2020 from Ganado Greys - Murray Grey Cattle Stud since she has joined our herd she has given us some of our best Steers and Heifers (some of which are still feeding us). This is Bessie's 4th bull that she has given us, and we aren't complaining. her bull calves have grown out to be long, deep bulls that carry there weight across there body well while also maintaining there condition.

A bit of a farm update 🤍
It’s been a challenging time with the fires through our area, but we’re very grateful to say the farm, cattle and home are safe. We were fortunate to have only a small section of forest affected and around 50 hay bales lost, with plenty more feed still available for the cows. Unfortunately, we also lost some fencing and about half a pasture paddock, but we know it could have been so much worse.

Like many others, it’s been a tense and emotional period, and we’re feeling incredibly lucky.
We want to say a huge thank you to the local CFA, emergency services, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to protect lives, stock and properties. Your efforts and dedication mean more than words can say.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted — the strength of rural communities never goes unnoticed 🌾🔥

It’s been a big and productive week here on the farm! We’ve spent the week sorting cows and getting all our mobs organised and ready for sale. While we were at it, we also worked our way through tagging calves, making sure everyone is accounted for and set up for the months ahead.

On another note, we’re very excited to share that our little ray of sunshine officially has a name! We’re so happy to introduce Otway Tootsie Roll X01 and we can’t wait to watch her grow and see what the future holds for her.

As always, thank you for following along with our journey and supporting our farm.

Over the weekend we brought Rocky, Velocity and Brutus in from the farm and back to the house, and it really feels good to have them close again. After a big few weeks, there’s something reassuring about seeing them settle back in, on familiar ground, and getting back into a bit of routine.

These boys have been away doing their job, and it’s always a good feeling unloading them at home, keeping a closer eye on them, and knowing they’re exactly where they need to be. Moments like this are a quiet reminder of why we do what we do.
Glad to have Rocky, Velocity and Brutus home — back to paddocks, feed, and a bit of normality 🐂🌾

It’s been a little quiet on here since Melbourne, but we’re very excited to finally share some special news 🤍

We’re thrilled to welcome the newest member of the farm and our first calf of the year — a gorgeous grey heifer, born on Wednesday the 21st of January, weighing 32.5kg.

She’s out of first-time mum Sarah U31, who did an incredible job calving unassisted — an effort we’re incredibly proud of.

With the past couple of weeks being a little stressful, it’s always nice to have moments like this to stop, appreciate, and remind us why we do what we do.

Her name is still in the works, but we’re already looking forward to watching this little lady grow. 🤍🐄

Melbourne Royal Show wrap.

Results:

Jormal Glen Sarah U31 First in the Cow or Heifer 20 to 24 Months class

Jumping Rock Unreal U1 Third in the Bull 24 to 36 Months class

Jomal Glen Velocity V24 Fifth in the Bull 12 to 15 Months class

Dad and I would like to thank our family, friends and our cattle family for spending the week with us at the Melbourne Royal Show.

Whilst we had a tough week, we have learned a lot and will continue to make long term decisions to best represent our cattle, the Murray Grey breed no matter the governing body and the beef industry in general.

We would like to acknowledge the successes of those exhibitors who took out broad ribbons, class wins, individual awards both in the ring and down the aisles. You set the bar high and we hope to one day compete at that level.

We would also like to thank those who helped us through the week. Your care and generosity is much appreciated. Happily we have arrived home safely and our cattle team is enjoying a feed and relax in their paddock. We hope you have all made a safe journey home.

Much love Vee and Murph

✨ Show Day (a little late!) ✨

We’re a bit behind with this update, but better late than never, right? 😅

It was a rough start with Sarah – she found herself in a class of her own and wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. Even so, she strutted off with a blue ribbon! She went back in for Champion but, with some tough competition, didn’t place this time.

Next up was Velocity, who was an absolute angel in the ring and picked up fifth in his class 👏.

Finally, Rocky went in and did us proud, walking away with a third in his class 🐮💙.

A big (if slightly belated) wrap-up of show day for our team – plenty of lessons, ribbons, and smiles all round.

Better late than never… we’re finally all settled in at the Melbourne Royal Show! 🎉🐮
The cows have been washed, fluffed, and are looking fresher than ever – all ready to strut their stuff in the ring tomorrow. ✨

This post is running about two days late… but to be fair, so were our ropes – which have finally turned up! 😅 At least now both us and the cows are organised and ready to go.

Bring on show day – we can’t wait to see how the team go’s and to catch up with everyone around the pavilion!
