Some days its just hard to get out of bed to go work in a large tin box.
Those hard days usually start with a single digit, lots of layers of clothes and a silent prayer that the icy winds blow away from the roller doors today.

I am not a fan of winter 🥶
Cant I hibernate like a bear, Ive stocked up food 🤍

My first go at canning meat. While Ive done many batches of other things, both water bathed and pressue canned Ive never ventured into meats. One didnt seal so we get to taste it sooner rather than later 😬

Properly canned mince can stay on your shelf for many years ready to use as necessary.

Todays batch was small to see of we like the taste and texture. No flavour added as I want it to be able to be used for as many dinners as possible.
2kg of mince and beef stock. Thats it.
Made 5 pint jars.
Processed for 75 mins

Today we went to see the movie Sheep Detectives. So many similarities between my life and my goats.

Rocky and Bandit the pygmy goats dont trust me at the moment cause I had to cut their ear tags off as they kept getitng infected. They think Im going to grab them so theyre a bit iffy. They will come round.
The white smoodgey guy with the red collar is Daryl. Hes so beautiful he likes to eat clothes and Barry is the one who has grown winter fluff galore.
Goats are the best 🥰 I feel that movie because I love spending time with my animals. Might start reading them murder mysteries🤗

This weekend is looking like Ive bitten off more than I can chew already 😬

Being Winter, weekends are the only daylight hours I get to wander around and check on my veges and fruit trees and spend time with all the animals and clean out their spaces.
This weekend I also wanted to re arrange my craft corner and go through clothes we no longer need to make more space in our cupboards..
We also have an Airbnb to clean and then wash all those sheets and then it needs to be reset again on Sunday.

In the back of my mind is the place I go to earn money. 300+ back orders ready to ship out from Monday packing glass jars takes time and care and is very physical work.

So what do I do with my energy this weekend..

Is saving my energy for work next week a good idea or is putting energy into this farm life I love my priority 🤔

Anyway.. just my thoughts today.
Check out this art installation from earlier this week. I woke up to find a spider had been very creative, joining my pot plants together so carefully with its web.

Farm life is the life for me 😃

Today we spent a day at LaFamilia Pygmy Goats learning more about caring for our little goaties.

We heard from guest speakers on everything from tagging requirements, goat health, nutrition, parasites and faecal testing, through to hoof care and handling emergency situations. Melissa also shared the thinking behind her breeding program, which was incredibly interesting why she does what she does.

Armed with our new knowledge, we came home and gave our own goats a thorough once-over. They're healthy, happy, and in great condition... maybe just a little bit spoilt!

One of the highlights of the day was all the baby goats. We even got to witness twins being born while we were there, which was pretty special.
We also met our goats' grandpa, Callum, who is a very handsome, very stinky and very chonky gentleman 🩵

Goats are the best, very thankful to Melissa and Nell for organising today.

Check out the video in the comments. Little purple bubba goat was so determined to get up the big tall wall 🥰

A day in Dorrigo chasing waterfalls 🥰
7km walk, steep in parts. Rewarded with a bloody good pizza and beer at the Bellingen Brewery before coming home to clean our airbnb, light the fire and fall asleep completely grateful for this life 💜
Can recommend the Wonga Walk 🌱
