We’re often asked, “What happens to the animals you shoot?”

While some are provided to taxidermists, others are given to local families for educational purposes.

The two foxes removed last night were given to a local homeschooling family, where today’s science lesson focused on animal anatomy, body structure, organs, skinning and tanning.

The best part is both parents are paramedics, who could give the kids a running commentary on what they were finding.

While examining the vixen, the kids discovered three unborn pups still in their amniotic sacs.

Not only was this a good outcome for the property owner, it also provided the kids with an opportunity to observe first-hand how animals develop before birth.

So, contrary to the assumption that culled animals are simply discarded, there are opportunities to make meaningful use of them after they’re culled.

This evening, we visited a local Adelaide Hills property owner following a request for assistance posted on a community page.

The property owner had experienced significant poultry losses over the previous few weeks, with losses estimated at close to $1,000.

After identifying the source of the problem, the situation was resolved within a couple of hours, providing the property owner with some much-needed peace of mind and an opportunity to safely establish their soon-to-hatch chicks.

Disappointing to read the low blow directed at recreational shooters in the last paragraph of the article.

There’s far more evidence to suggest deer escaped from farms over the years and then may gates were opened and whole herds were released when the industry failed to be sustainable.

Ground based recreational & pro shooters are an integral part of feral deer control, which is often conducted on a no cost base for property owners whilst supporting their local fi****ms dealer & their families.

What are your thoughts?

Adelaide residents are discovering Bambi is not as cute and innocent as Disney portrayed her to be, with thousands of deer wreaking havoc in the suburbs.
