Located on the east facing shores of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel in beautiful Southern Tasmania, just 30 minutes from Hobart, Trial Bay Es

tate is in one of Australia’s most exciting Pinot Noir regions. Our premium single vineyard Pinot Noir is the result of minimal intervention through the wine making process combined with exceptional produce, to allow pure expression of our unique terroir. The original block of vines were planted at Trail Bay Estate in 1997, with a second block of vines planted in 2007. Our fruit is handpicked, our vines are hand-pruned and we follow organic viticulture practices, striving to build a healthy living soil to support premium fruit production. OUR STORY

Nick and Saskia became the proud owners of Trial Bay Estate in 2019. Having decided to relocate to Tasmania from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria to escape the rat race, Nick and Saskia were looking for a few acres where they could have their horses when they stumbled across Trial Bay Estate. Nick fell in love with the house and garden, Saskia got her horse paddocks, and the vineyard was a bonus. Having a background in horticulture, Nick took to viticulture quickly and handles most of the day-to-day work in the vineyard himself. Our goal is to produce the highest quality fruit to make a Pinot Noir that reflects its unique terroir and that can be enjoyed by everybody. PREMIUM TASMANIAN PINOT NOIR

Pinot Noir 2020 is our first vintage, in what was a cool, low-yielding season. A fine, elegant wine, this Pinot Noir has pronounced berry characters with savoury notes delivered by wild fermentation. Fresh oak with a hint of toast in the aroma leads to a rich and embracing palate. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 8 years.

We will be opening our doors for Spring in the Vines for the first time since October 2023 We look forward to welcoming you into our intimate cellar door. Come and taste our Premium Tassie Pinot Noir. We will be pouring for tasting our 2023 and 2024 vintages.
We will also have some very small quantities of some back vintages available for purchase over the weekend.
Our beautiful garden will be open to you over the weekend so bring along your picnic rug and packed lunch and enjoy some time while enjoying a glass of the good stuff. If you prefer there are many local businesses that are more than happy to provide some great take away food as an option also.
Everything we do is done by hand, from pruning to plucking and picking.
We have made many changes to enhance our growing practices and further reduced our needs for nasty chemicals (no-herbicides) around the vineyard by adding a robot mower to the vineyard.
Make sure you put the Channel Region on your map for Spring in the Vines weekend and you're guaranteed to find some cracking wines.

Monday was an early start for our Vintage 2026 harvest 🍇
Very small yield. Mother Nature threw some very unseasonal conditions at us this season.
Big thank you goes out to the picking crew who had a long tedious day.
Thank you also to for the fantastic feast to keep us all nourished.
Can’t forget for some of the best sourdough 🍞 and crackers coming out of southern Tassie 😋
