Important update. I’m taking a step back this season to focus on precision breeding, health, and family. 🐝🔬 🌻

This year, we are shifting our focus from commercial mass queen production to intensive lab-based trait assessment and instrumental insemination.

Managing the Varroa crisis has taken a heavy toll on beekeepers across the industry, and after pushing past personal limits last season, it’s clear that carrying the full weight of this battle isn’t sustainable. To protect our health and ensure long-term impact, we are stepping back from volume sales to focus purely on high-level genetics and science.

Fewer queens will be available this season, and I’ll be stepping away from daily social media to focus on the work in the lab. We’ll still share critical findings as they come, but our priority right now is sustainable breeding, family, and wellbeing.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our work and continues to stand with us through this shift.

REPORT FROM THE APIARY: It’s such a delight to see the colonies looking so good right now. The mild weather has been our saving grace while we continue adjusting to life with varroa.

It’s no secret how tough things are for beekeepers in Australia right now. Had we also been subjected to severe weather like droughts or floods, I really wouldn’t want to imagine where we’d be.

Compared to some other operators in the industry, I think we’re doing okay. Small hive beetle is shocking, and I constantly feel like I’m on the back foot with it. However, we also have plenty of strong, organically treated colonies that are significantly better than those treated with synthetic miticides.
