REPORT FROM THE APIARY: It’s such a delight to see the colonies looking so good right now. The mild weather has been our saving grace while we continue adjusting to life with varroa.

It’s no secret how tough things are for beekeepers in Australia right now. Had we also been subjected to severe weather like droughts or floods, I really wouldn’t want to imagine where we’d be.

Compared to some other operators in the industry, I think we’re doing okay. Small hive beetle is shocking, and I constantly feel like I’m on the back foot with it. However, we also have plenty of strong, organically treated colonies that are significantly better than those treated with synthetic miticides.

How are your hives tracking this season? Are you noticing a difference with organic management? Let me know in the comments below! 👇

Every colony is headed by queens we’ve bred ourselves, from our tested lines. Unlike resellers or those using bulk-sourced queens, we raise every colony and queen right here to ensure the highest quality and health.

The queen bee lays an egg, a feat she will repeat thousands of times daily for up to five years. As the sole mother of the hive, she is responsible for producing the bees that pollinate our food supply.

Without the queen, the colony cannot survive and neither can our food system.
