The Pines Farm

The Pines Farm A 6th generation regenerative farm. Original home of The Pines Gelato. The Pines is a 6th Generation Regenerative micro-dairy farming on Dharawal land.

We make a small range of farmhouse cheeses (Dream, Halloumi, Three Daughters Cheddar and Pearl), natural yoghurt and artisan gelato. We transitioned away from conventional farming in 2013, reduced chemical inputs and began exploring holistic grazing & herd management. We now use a combination of regenerative, biodynamic, holistic and organic farming principals with the goal of trying to create the

healthiest soil systems possible. We now milk a mixed herd of Holsteins and crossbred cows with Normande, Fleckvieh and Pinzgauer genetics. Our herd is entirely pasture fed, with twice daily rotational cell grazing allowing for optimal pasture recovery times. We're working hard to improve biodiversity on farm, reintroducing native plant species and incorporating non-natives into our long term planting projects. Sustainability is one of our core ethics and in 2020 we were successful in securing a grant through the DPI to install a Solar and Battery system (60kw of each) which enables us to be completely independent for energy use. We are exploring long term water solutions including soil improvements for better water retention and currently implement a range of water saving techniques to minimise our impact. We are thrilled to announce we have found an exceptional family to take over The Pines Gelato! With a background in quality food production and hospitality, Martine and Gav Folden are set to step into a new phase of Gelato making - continuing production, markets and retail whilst exploring new and exciting opportunities.

Please give them a huge heartfelt congratulations and welcome - we’re so happy to see the business land firmly into the most capable hands 🙌🏻

So. Exciting.

Guys, we have been super busy behind the scenes and some very exciting news to share…..

But in the mean time - we have our LAST on farm Pop Up tomorrow. The Passion Project garden has been wound up this week so no garden goodies but we WILL have fresh honey extracted this week alongside our gelato and coffee.

We will then be closing our farm gate for a few months as we navigate a few changes/ crack on with some hard work BUT have some very exciting things lined up on farm so - watch this space!

Whilst our retail doors have closed (for now 🤞🏼) we’re excited to still be able to trade at during the Easter School Holidays. We’ll be scooping gelato and slinging coffee for the first 3 markets in April! See you at Surf Beach 🌞
