Oakwood Dairy

Oakwood Dairy operates from 345 acres in the beautiful Mt Kilcoy, just outside Kilcoy in the Somerset region of Brisbane valley.

Our family stems from a strong farming background, being the fourth generation to dairy farm in the Mount Kilcoy valley. The four of us Kym Ashley and two sisters are passionate about the farming life working closely together with our individual strengths and knowledge in all aspects of day to day running of the family farm.

Our cows graze on the rolling hills and creek flats of established pastures of Kikuyu, Rhodes grass, couch grass, and in winter month’s clover and rye grass. Excess pasture is baled and stored for the cows when their feed is short, due to change of season, drought or floods. These pastures are irrigated from bores, a lagoon and the recycled water from the milking shed. Recently, we added a large solar system to help with the rising energy cost, combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduce our collective dependence on fossil fuel
