Very proud of our Trev but importantly of all the innovative farmers and ag businesses in our community. Sharing for memories.
Thanks Kimba District Council for acknowledging the importance of our Agricultural industries.
🌾 Why Our Farmers & Ag Industry Matters 🌾
Farming isn’t just a job in Kimba — it’s our lifeblood. It shapes our landscape, drives our economy, and ties our community together.
In 2020-21 alone, Kimba produced an incredible $76 million worth of agricultural output. Zooming out, across Kimba and surrounding districts, that’s around 300,000 tonnes of crops and livestock heading out into the world every single year.
Agriculture is Kimba’s biggest employer. One in five locals work in the industry, meaning almost every family has a direct connection to the land.
From golden fields of wheat and barley, to rows of lentils and canola, to flocks of merinos producing world-class wool, our region is a powerhouse of production. In fact, the Eyre Peninsula (including Kimba) is recognised as one of Australia’s largest canola-producing areas.
Winter rainfall is the heartbeat of our season, and no one reads the skies better than a farmer. But it’s not just grit and determination keeping things ticking along — it’s smarts and innovation too.
Right here in our patch, you’ll find operations running precision ag tech, variable-rate seeding, and satellite-linked software, proving that Kimba farmers are as future-focused as they are hardworking.
At the end of the day, our farmers put more than food on our tables. They keep our local shops busy, our schools full, our sporting clubs thriving, and our community strong. Without them, Kimba simply wouldn’t be Kimba.
Here’s to our farmers — the backbone of the bush and the heart of our home.
